I'm finally down to the options of trading in the Corvette or parting it out. In the old days you could post parts and have people fighting over them within the hour. Is there enough of a market for small block parts these days to even sell off the pieces?
I know the intake, throttle body, headers, transmission and rear end (D44 with 3.45 gears) will likely sell easily enough (though I don't want to ship the larger items). How's the market for roller cams, roller rockers, ATI aluminum "3 ring" road race harmonic balancer, etc? I have a splayed main cap block, I'd think that would be easy enough to sell for a somewhat decent price. Any thoughts? |

Kevin,
Yes folks still do. Scratcher is still on a production block and does well. Lots of circle (asphalt and dirt) still use them week in and week out. That being said, I just got another project car and it needs a sbc due to a "we left water in it and it froze". Costas cars and such... |

I might know a guy with an engine for sale....depending what you need/want in a motor. I don't know the best way to get one to Texas...but I've dropped a crate motor diesel at the freight terminal before (7.3 powerstroke, my friend had a bad diesel in his 2001 F250 and I got to pick up the crate motor and haul the core back to the depot). At least I own a truck again. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) So...what did you buy? |

So...what did you buy? (IMG:http://www.witchdoctormotorsports.com/host356.jpg) Had water in the block and it froze, so it's a multi-piece block. Price was incredibly right. Costas cars and such... |

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) You're going to be able to run your own GT1 race series before too long. I grabbed it because it was a great deal. A good buddy of mine is rearranging his life currently and will have space for this shortly and it'll go to him.
It's a barn find, been sitting for 10 years, but the basics are nice and it should be competitive in NASA St1 or St2. His plan is to do a basic SBC pushing 4xx or 5xx to the wheels and see where it slots in. It has an IRS in the back and the water pump is aft of the front axle centerline so the f/r % is much more favorable than Scratcher. Cool car though, and happy to see that it is going to get rebuilt and back on the track with a carb'd SBC gen 1. Costas cars and such... |
