Hey I think our races from Mosport are on today on Speed. Not sure of the time. We had a race on Saturday and one on Sunday. I think they are both aired today. Both were pretty good, but Sunday's had a better ending (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I watched the interview also. there was no mention of keeping calm, just "How is it having your son Louis on the radio with you"?

I said,"Louis is the Man" and I meant it. He never has to keep me calm, but the announcers like to add "Drama" to the race. They like to make me out to be the tough guy. When in reality I am a casper milktoast (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

In their mind one would have to be a wild man to pull off 3 passes on three of the best drivers in the world, (well 2 anyway, skip the porsche). But if any of you have a copy of the Trans Am race at Mosport in 2001, you would have seen the same outside pass on Simo by Gigliotti in that race.

Louis did comment to me on the radio that the "Officials" are always finding a way to give me a penalty and I should keep it so clean that they would not have any excuse.

If you remember, at Portland, they black flagged me for "Rolling" or jumping the start. But at Mosport in the second race the Porsche clearly rolled or jumped the start, and my crew had to bitch like heck to make them enforce the same rule that they pulled me in for.

None the less, in the interview I mentioned all who needed to be mentioned with the exception of StopTech brakes. If you will remember the out braking passes at 160mph at the end of the straight on the Audi and Cadillac, and the Porsche in the same corner. The stop tech prototype 6 piston brakes are as good as any I have ever used and I forgot to mention them. That was the only mistake that i could see that I made in that interview. Plus I stumbled a little when I called the car,"My Lg Pro Long Tube Corvette".

I guess the driving was overshadowed by the interview. Let me know when you get interviewed and I will critique it for you. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

But you had to like the racing right? Think of who is racing in the top ten. Fellows, and Pilgrim(lemans Factory drivers) Tommy Archer (1 time champ and Lemans driver), Galati(5 time champ), Pobst, (1 time champ) Angelelli, (Italian formula 3000 champ factory LMP driver), Leighton Reece, (Multiple race winner in many series), Lou Gigliotti ( 3 time champ) , Lou who?? And whoever has the balls to come race against this group.

How hard do you think it is to run against this group of drivers with cars prepared by Factory teams with almost no limit on their budgets. Well at Motorsports ranch we run in the 14's with the car before the season started. We would have to be in the 13's to be where we are now. At mosport we were less than 2 seconds slower than the trans am times from 2001. That is how fast you would have to be.

What do you think goes through the mind of a new driver coming into this series? They would have to think they are Michael Shumacher to challenge this group. This is truly a fast and furious bunch of racers. But if a new driver was too timid to come mix it up then they could never BE Schumacher. Part of being a great driver is to first "Think you are a great driver". Then you would have to either be very rich or give up everything that normal people have. We have worked 16+ hours a day for 7 days a week since janruary. That is 8 months 7 days a week which is 3968 hours per man or it means that we put in 99 forty hour weeks in 8 months, or 1.9 years of work in 8 months. That is what it takes.

Let me say that again. 1.9 years of work in 8 months for a small team to compete with the Factory teams. And it is more than just work, It is skilled focused work. It is work that takes the car to a higher level rather than just busy work. There are plenty of teams that work hard, but they do not have the experience or guidence to make the work produce the intended result.

We could all want the car to be faster, but most don't know how to really make it faster. Just throwing parts at a car won't make it faster. And LGM does it without Factory engineers. just seat of the pants refinment of the Corvette to make it better.

Tune in one week from Sunday for the next installment of the Speed World Challenge race from Elkhart Lake Wi. Or watch on line scoring this Friday and Sat afternoon to see how the interview is going. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Mitch, I still love you too (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
