I am looking to buy 4 3rd Gen 16x8 rear wheels (16mm offset). I would like to fit some tires to them and see if I can stuff them under the wheel wells of my 4th gen Firebird. I would prefer the T/A honeycomb wheels, but I will wait and see what kind of choices that I get.
Thanks. |

o.k. - you guys need to learn that there is negative offset and positive offset. no way a car w/ OEM wheels of -56mm is gonna be able to use a wheel w/ a +16mm offset.
don't confuse backspacing w/ offset. backspacing is from the inner most lip to the mounting face. offset is from the CENTER LINE of the wheel to the mounting face. about 26mm is one inch. stock 4th gen = -56 (towards outside of wheel from C/L) rear 3rd gen = +16 (towards inside of wheel from C/L) so your looking @ a 72mm difference (2.7xxx inches!). this also jives w/ what i was told about using a 4th gen rear in a 3rd gen, the rear in a 4th gen is wider by 2 inches or more. run 4th gen wheels and use a quality spacer w/ quality lug studs and all will be fine. |
