Power Window Motor Replacement? - F-Body Road Racing and Autocross Forums

I need to get my car inspected this month and the power window motor on the driver's side is shot and won't pass. (Yeah, yeah, I know - it's a road race car with power windows. A street legal race car is the only indirect constraint that my wife put on me to let me go play.)

According to the Haynes manual I need to secure the window in the halfway up position with door stops wedged between the door opening and the window.

I assume that they want me to hold up the window so I put a water bottle under the base of the window at the rear of the door. That is the only place to really do this anyway. Am I understanding this correctly?

I am then supposed to remove the rear channel guide bolts (easy enough to understand).

I am then supposed to punch out, then drill out the rivets that hold the regulator in place. Am I correct to assume that I need to have rivets and such to finish this project?

Also, I am to disconnect the electrical connector. Just looking at it, how the heck am I supposed to do that? There is no way to get my hands in there?

Maybe I'm just dumb and have to do this once... Anyone done this or have any input?
