I have also seen a positive change in NASA over the years, I too have been an SCCA fan since birth. I teach for SCCA, they generously helped me develop the skills, they just did not have a class that compared to CMC. The main difference is your wallet, your wallet, and your wallet when comparing classes. Also important in any series is to know how the group is on track, i.e., do they run safe, and what level of BS are their powers that be willing to tolerate. With CMC that is very low, and the result is we have a very safe group out on track.
Other things to consider are how many events they have, some classes and sanctioning bodies have shorter seasons. CMC is still running out here, we have two more events! Lastly, are there great disparities in cars or talent? The way CMC is structured everyone is broken in through inverted races (fast folks start last), and eventually we run 3 cars wide everywhere! Our rules keep things cheap and close. I would recommend you go and hang out with the various groups on racedays. That will give you a good picture. |
