I read the F1 vs. IRL vs. NASCAR vs. Touring Car debate and I wondered, what is the best race you have ever seen? SCCA , IMSA, AMA etc. Anything pros, amatuers, bikes, boats, whatever. In person, on TV, a participant etc. Lets hear from you guys.

I'm going to have to vote for the ALMS race at RFK stadium a few years ago. Befor ethen all I had been to were a few Nascar races where you wwatch the crews from behind a wrought iron fence 50 feet from the action, then you watch the race in some growded gradstand where you can only see what's in front of you. At the ALMS race you could wander through the paddock, take a tour of the number 3 and 4 Corvette trailers, get run over by celebrities driving around, get close enough to touch the cars and talk to the crew some, and get driver's autographs.
It was great because there were a ton of different series running the same weekend. I can't remember squat about the races except for the fact that Lou was there and I got his autograph before he was punted into the wall where the marshals promptly towed his car into the opposite wall!! That and the SCCA guys ran half their race under caution because they kept wrecking. |
