Our scca region is having a weekend race at one of those nice indoor go-kart tracks. Last year, the club racers beat up on the autocrossers pretty badly.
So what's the secret to being fast in a kart? Short line vs. smoother, wider line; Hit the apex or late apex; hard brake & gas vs smooth transitions etc. I'd rather not have to resort to stock car tactics to keep people behind me. 2 rules:
1. never lift. foot always to the floor. silly go-karts don't accelerate 2. shortest line is always quickest depending on surface car may skip across asphalt, but keep your foot planted. |
