I learned that one of my competitors in CMC in my region works for Hot Rod and has been doing a bunch of articles on his build-up to a CMC car. I got the April issue today at the store, but this was apparently the 3rd installment of more to come. I'll get the subsequent issues, but I was wondering if anyone has installments one and two?

That's really the natural progression of all forms of racing.
A new grassroots class is started to keep it simple, cheap, and fun. Then it evolves and gets ever more expensive and time-consuming to keep up. It also becomes more complex as the rules attempt to handle those seeking an excessively unfair advantage without stifling creativity, etc. Eventually, it becomes another established class with all the usual overhead. Then there is a void left in the grassroots niche, and another new one is started. The same is actually true in ANY sport. If competitive underwater basketweaving took hold as a sport, people would eventually be cultivating special custom-grown willow trees optimized for basketmaking. That's just the way it works. |
