[ *** Sunday March 18 -- still looking for a complete upgrade! *** ]
I'm looking for a complete LS1 brake upgrade kit (spindles, rotors, calipers and brackets. I don't need useable pads, and the hubs would be nice to have but optional ... I can find an incomplete and somewhat expensive kit from Billy Graham's salvage and eBay doesn't come up with anything good right now that will ship to Canada (or that doesn't require me to pay by money order). Anyone have a kit for sale? Thanks! Please post here or send me a pm. ... and this all started when I pulled my entire front suspension for some detailing ... then the little gears in my head started turning and now I already own a set of Hawk HP+ pads, but still need the rest of the upgrade! Oh yes, and I've run out of brakes on the track twice so far. Either I need to smarten up (I wish ...) or I need a bit more brakes. -- Nik; mailto:maddrtwinkletoes@shaw.ca Black 1995 Z28 TT (nearing completion ...) The LT1 spindles look pretty meaty to me--in fact, they look heavy, because of the way the brake pads are retained with the single piston calipers.
Heck, I am starting to think *I am* going to use modified LT1 spindles! I'm putting this upgrade together from different sources, and I foresee a trip to my little workshop downstairs for some surgery. The way things look right now, I might actually pick up some 13" C5 rotors and machine them down to fit under a 16" wheel with the LS1 calipers, along with some fabricated brackets to mount them. (Wilwood sells a 12.5" rotors, but it's more expensive). I think a 12.75" rotor may allow the calipers to clear, but that's just from a quick trip to the garage with a tape measure. After the pains I went through over the last 9 months with my custom twin turbo setup, which I put together from the ground up, this is starting to sound a lot faster than this hunting around for LS1 spindles! Unless someone sells me **LS1 spindles soon** (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) --Nik |
