I know it's not in the main scope of the forums here, but I just ran the Z in a local road rally (http://www.corc-rally.org) in the area NW of Columbus. It was somewhat Speed/Time/Distance based, but it didnt' really give enough leg information to do all the real number crunching for leg data. Instead you basically had to drive it dead nuts on. Even still, I would have been lost without Jenny navigating! We were the only car in Novice class, so we finished 1st there, but we finished 5th overall out of 9 cars and we also had two great legs with scores of 7 and 9. (Rally scores kinda like golf... with 1 point being assigned for every 0.01 seconds off the calculated leg time.) It was $15 bucks to enter for non members... we "raced" for 2.5 hours... and we had an absolute blast. It was fun for a Saturday night without anything to do. I've got 2 novice class wins and a third place, I think) (and a 4th overall and I forget the other two overalls) in the corc rallys. I've run a few of them, it's great fun. Bill (my Memphis co-pilot) and I have run them and Danielle and I have run them, we did well both times.
And, they assign one point for each hundreth of a minute you are off (just over 1/2 second per point), not .01 seconds. I once nailed a stage with a score of 1 (but I had a trip computer with average speed on it in my old GTI and it apparently worked great). I beat the guys with the full rally computer in that event. |
