QUOTE (trackbird @ Jun 26 2005, 11:05) Axoid just did a cage and harnesses in his 3rd gen. I don't know if he had tabs welded in or is using the stock mounting bolts. Maybe he'll drop in here. Jegs sells a "clip in" kit from Simpson. It's a forged eyebolt with large washers to back it up. It's not perfect (I'd be concerned that it could be too weak for a high speed impact such as open track) I'd think it would work well in an autocross car. Are you still running ESP with SFC's on the car or did you cut them off? (Just curious). I bought two of the long Simpson bolts. I used the stock belt mounting point on the inside, replacing the stock bolt with the Simpson bolt and you need to use the nut inside the tunnel because the bolt will screw in but the Simpson bolt is a little smaller and the threads don't directly match up (I didn't use the 3" backing plate). On my car the fuel lines run right beside the factory reinforcement, had to remove a couple of screws to move the lines enough get a socket on the nut, but everything went back into place fine. On the outside belt I drilled a hole through the body and placed the 3" backing plates on both the inside and outside the body and ran through the bolt. I'm currently using bolt-in belts, but I'm planning on switching to clip-in. The shoulder harness is just wrapped around the cage's cross bar. |
