Kevin,

I'll shoot you a PM.

If the differential and 4.10's are in good condition i'll take them......Whats with filing them down for a paddle? Do you need the paddle for them to be installed?

They are. They came out of my car, which before I bought it and autocrossed it for a season before swapping out the diff didn't see much besides the back side of a garage door. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The paddle (in most diffs it's a pin) is the spacer that sits inside the diff and I think it's main job is to keep the axles from pushing inward and the c-clips from coming out.

The 4.10 ring gear teeth are taller than the stock 3.42 ring gear teeth, however. So unless you want to buy an expensive, 2-piece paddle from SLP, the easiest way to allow it to fit over the taller teeth is to grind down the tops of a few of them. The gearset in question has the tops of four ground down a couple millimeters to allow the paddle past.

It's an old hot rodder trick. It doesn't affect the surface where the teeth and the pinion mesh. The guy who did my gears (an old hot rodder) said it doesn't effect their strenght. If you want, I'll shoot you his number and you can call and ask him if you want more details on it. He's a cool guy. BTW, the paddle is included with the diff... It's got everything you need to install... Although you'll probably want to pick up some new bearings and shims.

Let me know if you're interested. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you want. I can send a pic later on today...

Thanks,

-John
