progress as of this evening. Looks great! Not all the joints are welded. Still need NASCAR bars & subframes. Would require a lot of thrashing to get ready though

Yes, once the headlight/rotating assembly is removed, there is nothing under there to mount anything to.
I used 1/8 x 2 aluminum strip I got from Home Depot ... Interestingly enough, there is a very nice "lip" on the hood tht I contured the aluminum strip to fit snug against. This gave it some nice laeral strength. I couldn't have done it with out cleckos Also, if you notice, I aligned the rivets up to follow the top edge of the headlight door and not go straight across.
