Preface:
For those that don't know, my brother passed away in July of last year. He kind of "looked out for" my Mom and step Dad Jim as they lived in the same town. Jim was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August, given 6 months to live. I moved Mom and Jim to a duplex about 3 doors down from house so that I could "look out for them". Jim passed away 12/23 ... and now Mom's health is deteriorating fast. All that to set the stage for ... Jim had used Cox cable in their hometown. We turned it off and I sent them what I thought was there last payment in November. Late december, I get another bill for $20 and change. I write "deceased" on it and return it with a copy of Jim's death certificate. Last night, I get a call from Stacy at cox cable explaining that even though Jim has passed away he still had to pay the bill. I literally laughed out loud at this bimbo ... I asked her if she understood what dead meant. I went on to ask her how she thought Jim was going to be able to write her out a check. The conversation degraded significantly from that point. The more I think about it, the funnier it gets .... |

You could always give them your step-dad's new address so they could forward the bill... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Sorry for your frustration with this. It's not as uncommon as you might think.
May depend on when in November you turned off the cable. Not all billing cycles run from the 1st to the 30th of a month. |
