The Asian countries seem to be about to turn out good electronics, but their mechanical stuff is lacking quality control. The last company I worked for we had to order some bolts for a couping to go on a new GE gas turbine, so new it was in R&D. We had to special order 2.5" bolts for the flanges and some Asian company came in at a significantly lower price and was to build the bolt to our specs (rolled threads, etc). When we got the bolts they where so lumpy on the body that most of them didn't even go all the way in to the holes. We had to take all the bolts and skim the body on a lathe to make them work. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) It was a lot cheaper to do that then to send them back and pay fines for us not delivering the product to GE on time.
