So Guys what you think of running e85 vs. race gas? then e85 vs. pump on the street? Is it much better. They say it pollutes a lot less. so i guess it could also help pass emissions. Opinion guys. I personally have never used it would be nice idea since i can tune the car for the e85

A good friend of mine was on a team that converted a few cars to alternate fuels for a collegiate competition. E85 takes a lot of work to make it work right. All aluminum in the fuel system has to go, E85 will either eat right through it or become contaminated. It also makes less power than regular, they added a supercharger to make the truck a little faster than stock. I'm pretty sure the fuel and spark tables were completely re-mapped. Something with the fuel pump has to be changed, I just can't remember why.
My point is that it's not a very simple process. I'll have to see how GM makes cars that can run on both, maybe something has changed in the years since the competition. |
