Does anyone know of a website where I can ask questions pertaining to setting up a car for LSR racing? I bought a rulebook from the SCTA but need some questions answered, (or opinions given), regarding car set up, particularly transmissions. I'm considering setting that ITA Olds I have for ECTA/SCTA events. I need to know what I'm up against before jumping in. ANY help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for responding. I hope to make the ECTA's event on 9-24 to spectate. I'll be in Charleston SC for a wedding on the 23rd, and can probably swing by Maxton on the way home. Who did your brother go with? I saw on the entry list someone from Sandston was running Bonneville. If I do build it, it will be solely for LSR type racing. The first thing I have to do is have the engine bay media blasted and check for overall integrity. Then I plan to disassemble the front suspension, rebush it, etc. Once I'm sure it'll be safe, I can start spending my son's inheritance.

Since thats a Sunday and most head home on Saturday. If you drive the Camaro you can run it for $100. Best legal fun up to 130mph (need closed face helmet and long pants and long sleeve shirt). Then if you keep it under the radar run it hard up to the 3/4 mile and coast through the 1 mile traps.

My brother is with the sandston entry who broke the record twice. Once on the short course with 180+mph then the long course on Wed with 200+ mph to join the 200 mph club. Look at the pics on SCTA-Bin.com for a blue roadster with a confederate soldier holding the rebel flag (you gotta love us diehard shortherners (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif) ).

Even with all the aero one can dream up, a car takes a lot of hp to push it faster on the other end. A stock LS1 fbody is good to 150mph at Maxton. A stock LT1 Vette is about 140mph. There is a RX7 with a sbc in it with a lot of nitrous that can juice it hard to 200mph at Maxton.

If you need any typical sbc parts to build a mild motor first let me know. I'm sitting on enough parts to do everything but a sbc short block.

Something to think about with the trans is alot of people do not run a converter. If they have th350 they are usually direct driving it with the solid converter gig. I've even seen a powerglide with a direct drive and 2 gear vendors overdrives behind it (that makes 2x2x2 for one durible 6 speed or is that 8 speed (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) ).
