My house is on top of a hill so we'll be safe, but we are completely surrounded by floodwater higher than I've ever seen it (came up FAST). It's still a few inches short of the record, but more rain is coming. I'm amazed the power company hasn't cut us off yet, since the lines go through the flooded neighborhood at the bottom of the hill.

I probably won't be going anywhere for a few days, though I suspect I'll be able to get out just in time to go to work Monday morning (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Maybe I'll have time to do a lot more on the car than I planned this weekend, but first I think I'll dust off the generator (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Oh ... and the new bridge that was rebuilt higher after the last flood still isn't high enough (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I also had a big scare this Thursday/Friday... we had 50-70mph wind gusts for almost 24 hours and everywhere in my county fires were popping up for various reasons, mostly downed power lines. I can relate Sean, we did not sleep much Thursday and I actually called the local veterinary school for help on an evac plan for my geckos (about 450). We are in the country and the fire response is not that of the city (five miles away). One of my neighbors was wetting down his roof Friday. Scary scene. We are breathing easier as the winds have calmed and life is back to normal. My box of CMC car parts to be trashed from the accident is gone, must be in another county by now!

Ironically we are the low ground of our area and worry a bit more in the winter. We had a very wet winter last year and did just fine so am less concerned about that now...the neighbors on high ground were putting towels around their doors to keep ash from coming in their houses, we had a small pile near the front door!
