I got it for $1,500. It came from a 38k mile 1995 Camaro and this was confirmed back through the ownership chain. Apparently this car was a fair weather car and was babied. The guy who was selling it was doing a project where he was putting it into a 944 but the company that made the custom pieces to make it bolt up stopped making them and he was left with a 944 and LT1.
This is probably a little higher than market value for a used LT1 but in my 3-year search, I never came across one that I felt I could install with any confidence since the history was really unknown. ...and I don't have the time, money or skill set to rebuild one... I had actually planned on a Jasper engine (about $2,600) if my race engine expired and I didn't have a replacement. Now I have a replacement I can trust so I have a wide rpm range to play in. |
