Received my LS1 hood on Wednesday. Won't get a chance to do the test fit / install / paint until after our season opening autocross this weekend.

It's really light. Came very well packaged. More comments and pic's to follow.

Art - Glad you finally got it and the crate was OK. We learned a couple things in shipping this thing - It is too large for Greyhound, and trucking takes twice as long as they quote - it was 16 days door to door for 2500mi.

Weight is 7# 14oz, here is a pic just before it went into the crate:

These parts are incredible! Do you have the ability to make a hood for a LS1 firebird?

I don't have molds for any of the Pontiac hoods. I have Z28 LT1 and LS1 molds, and I have a C5 hood that I could make a mold from.

Got any C4 targas laying around to mold from? Shouldn't be too hard to mold, and the door seal is on the metal frame.

Nope, not for a C4. What I do have: front bumper covers, ZR1 rear bumper covers, hoods, doors. I do have a local customer with a C4, so if you're thinking of a CF roof panel for it I'd see if he can loan me the roof to pull a mold from.

Ah, yeah, that's what I meant: a CF roof panel. I'd love to get one of those. The factory fiberglass looks (and feels) pretty heavy, and it should be easy to seal up since the seals are all on the metal frame (I think). But, I don't have $500+ to spare right now. Alan,

Your carbon work looks VERY nice. FYI, you might look into CF front fenders.....perhaps with a hint of the Sunoco Camaro flaring.....and a nose. I am assuming there would be a market.....ESPECIALLY if you modified the the nose to look something like this:
(IMG:http://www.bryntessonmotorsport.com/images/536.jpg)

I bought Chinese front fenders for $42 each and a nose for $79. They would make VERY GOOD starting points for making molds of such products.....

....hint hint..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

That's one of the cars from the Swedish Camaro Challenge series, right? How do they get the euro wheels (Speedlines, O.Z., ATS, etc.) to fit our cars? Are they changing the whole hub assembly to one of their bolt patterns??? Or are they custom drilling the wheels? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dunno.gif) (Sorry for the (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/hijacked.gif) , Alan, but if I ever get the cash, one of your hoods is on my Z28. They look 100x better than the VFN $h!t! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif) )

This will be the last post I make on this since this is Alan's thread....still want you to make this kinda stuff Alan! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) ...but I have re-established contact with two main players in the Camaro Cup as of a couple of days ago and am getting good email exchanges with them going now.

I am seeing if the builder of the nose would be willing to ship them to the US now. Likely the shipping would be huge, so we would need to ship one and see if the guy would let us copy it for us. Alan? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif)

Oh, and they use Corvette stuff up front, I am pretty sure the hubs are the same--stock Camaro stuff in the rear. I have asked about the wheels...he is getting the info for me. They use ZZ4 Crate motors with lightweight pistons and get about 420 HP out of them. They also run them on E85 with just a jet change on the carb!
