Can you "locals" compile a list of autoparts stores and salvage yards in the track's area so that in the event of a need, there won't be a thrash to find someone.

Last year Kevin and company were God-sends ....

Thank Glenn's Sprint wireless internet connection, my Sprint cell phone and my GPS. Just tell Glenn to bring the laptop and we'll be just fine.

No god-send here, all I did was drive the parts chase car. My job was easy, really easy (though finding a belt was starting to become real fun after a while). Keeping Glenn calm was the tough part, and Mitch did that quite well.

Besides, I've got new GPS toys for my laptop for this year..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)

the laptop is coming.
we have the correct belt number written down on the core support.
keeping me calm will still be a needed job for someone.

That's a really good idea, even though I remember it off the top of my head right now... 935K6...

I brought a friend's GPS unit with me last year and it was invaluable when I had to make a couple of parts store runs. I'll bring it again with me this year (knocking on wood that I won't need it).

Speaking of Nationals - who is going to be doing the Mid Ohio test day on Wednesday?

I have a Magellan, that's what ran me down 150+ miles of back roads through KY and TN. I recently bought the Delorme Street Atlas with the USB GPS attachment. I had the software and used it with my Magellan, all tied into my laptop. The USB GPS elminates most of the wires and clutter.

I could stop by in the evenings on my way home to check if anyone needs help as well. (I drive past the track every day) Just make sure I can get in. My cell phone also has a web browser, GPS add-on and if all else fails my house is just 15 minutes away. Depending on what is happening in my life (the GTI still not being fixed being one reason) I can help out on the weekend too.

EDIT, I also have my laptop with me and can access the web via my phone as well.

my work requires the use of Streets and Trips and Street Atlas both. i use a USB GPS rx that came w/ the streets and trips program.
street atlas is easier to use.
i also have a dash mounted Garmin 5 that sits and never gets turned on these days. i use the PC based (laptop) stuff almost every day. i never leave home on a long trip w/ out it no matter how many times i've made the trip.
most surprising feature - resturant finder! set the thing to look for a set few resturants you pick (or any available) and set the radius around your current location (determined by GPS) and set the refresh time. it continuosly looks for places to eat, or sleep, or get gas, rest stops, police stations, parts stores. whatever!

We're flying on Tuesday with the intention of running on Wed, but I haven't signed up yet. Do I call the track or what? Nick, when are you dropping off your car at 7's Only?

Chris, go to their website Mid Ohio School and click on driving courses - you can sign up for the test day online or give them a call. August 17th a lot of their rates go up.

I want to go down really badly, but can't commit yet. How hard is it to get in the pits where all the cool kids are?

My Bro-in-law pit crew is towing the race car for me. His idea! He is looking forward to the road trip! I'm flying out and driving back with him. I'll be on track Wed too! Looking forward to meeting all these online faces in person! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well, Im registered. I'll have the new motor in the car just in time. That is, just in time to get my butt handed to me in TTB since it will be the first event ive driven in about a YEAR now. Anyway, if TT drivers can have "pit" people I'll have a couple of spots open. How many people are camping? I doubt my wife lets me near a hotel after all the money I spent on the motor this year (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant2.gif) Anyone renting paved parking - Im asking so we could organize a FRRAX 'area' its about $100 for a 10x40 spot for all 4 days
