WTF? Am I gonna need rain tires?

I had a media / photo pass that got me anywhere, including up to the corner worker's stations. I managed to snag a few neat pics:

let me correct your statement. you need to have participated in 5 races to qualify for Nationals. here in TX we run 4 races per event. 2 on saturday and 2 on sunday. so we will qualify in just over 1 event weekend.

I'm hoping to make it to Nationals. One of my friends, Chris Streit runs a Porsche 911 in GTS4, he's the GTS Midwest Director for NASA. I was there last year and it was a blast. If I make it down this year I will try to spend more time around the F-bodies and less around the Porsches! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif)

Uh, about those rain tires (the weather has been doing its best to drown the midwest)..... You might want to bring floats if things don't change soon. Apparently, this was a recent pic taken at Mid Ohio.

Too bad we can't take all of that rain away from the Midwest and bring it to the West. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Trackbird's picture was probably from Monday or Tuesday. The area got a lot of rain. Believe me, it does not look like that any more.

We'd definitly give you some (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

If you turned on the national news in the last 24 hours you might have heard about the flooding in a city called Findlay, OH. Well, I grew up in a town called Ottawa, which is about 20 miles down river from Findlay. My mom and brother still live there. My mom actually grew up at this same house, so she’s lived there for over 50 years, and she’s never seen the water this high.

Yesterday she told me that we (they) are one of 3 blocks in the whole town that still has power.

When I called her this morning I ask her if she was floating in Noah’s ark. She said that the school and library near our house are flooded and many of our neighbors basements obviously since they are without power. Luckily we still have power and have a back-up battery powered sump pump, so we’re sitting high and dry for now at least. The water has flooded our street and is starting to come up the driveway, but it is supposed to crest this morning so she thinks we’ll be ok.

A family she knows that lives by the creek has water up to their ceiling!

Our neighbors that are about a block away have a fairly large gas powered pump trying to pull the water out of their basement. All it can do is keep it level!

Another neighbors garage is flooded and there pool is a lot bigger now.

It sounds like you can’t pass most of the bridges.

This past weekend we were wishing that we could get some rain! When it rains, it pours!

To keep on topic:
I’d like to come down to Nationals for a day or 2. Can I get on someone’s pit crew? I can be a tire man, jack man, fuel man, or general purpose b*tch. Fetch pizza, beer, snacks etc.

As a west coaster who's the entirity of my wife's pit crew, I say the more the merrier. I'll gladly buy beer all day long for anyone that wants to lend a hand! (I should be careful about what I promise, might get some f-body folks there able to drink all day long).

Dusty,

The Nationals will be held at Mid Ohio in Lexington, Oh. It runs from September 13 to September 16th. Many of us will be there, we shouldn't be hard to find. There is more info here:
