They got their performance numbers a bit off. As I remember C&D or Road and Track quoted 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and 157 mph top speed (and as a youth, I went for a 150+ mph ride with a friend in a 1990 IROC one night). But either way, I like 3rd gens enough that I sold my 2002 and bought one again. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Yeah, I was checking that out as well. Did you notice that the plasic clip for the throttle cable is open? I had problems with that myself.

Nice find.

Yep, I've got my clip ziptied shut as it always used to pop open.

Lastly, did anyone else notice the estimated top speed at 130? WTF?

I noticed the weight was listed at 3479. Isn't that a pinch heavy for a 3rd gen 1LE with a/c and radio delete?
Beautiful car. Allthough, I would have got black with red stripes. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Top speed might be 130 depending on the rear gear and if it can upshift into 4th. A 3.23 might be 130 in 3rd.

2.73 can do 150, don't ask how I know (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I think a lot of the autos won't shift to 4th at WOT, so you are limited to 3rd gear. The 1LE's and B4C's with the L98/auto could shift to 4th at WOT, so they would go quite a bit faster (they were all 3.23's IIRC).

Does anyone else find it strange that the 350 engined 1LEs were not faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile?? I mean with that low weight and 345 # ft. of torque (EVEN if it dropped off early due to the L98 choking at higher revs), it should have done better than that!! Or was the 700R4 just a REALLY sloppy, slow shifting slushbox with really bad ratios??? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dunno.gif)

Just because it won't shift at WOT does not mean that after you let off a touch, it shifts, that you can't go back to WOT. Same with my 87 GN.

A 92 1LE/B4C will still be pulling at 140 quite nicely (certified speedo backed by GPS) and cop testing back in the day showed the auto (3.23) and the 5sp (3.42) were both good to an honest 150.

Never could on my car. I even added the B&M "upshift valve" and if I got to happy with the loud pedal, it would back into 3rd and run off of the tach. I eventually destroyed that gearbox (after 10 rebuilds) and got a new core, it turned out to be a 350 box and it would make the 3/4 shift while wide open. Then, I converted the car to a manual. My teal car is a factory 5.7 liter car, but it's now a 6 speed.

Yea, the cars that wouldn't shift were limited by third gear, the 5.7's would shift and they ran 150+ mph on top.

Pretty cool online magazine too! I signed up for a free 36 month subscription. If my C&D runs out, I can check this out and not have to deal with magazines all over the place!
