What was the problem with the front breather the way it was setup with the radiator leaned forward? I was planning on doing that some time in the future but I'd like to know what trouble you ran into.

I'm not a 100% sure what the the problem was or if there was a problem at all to begin with. The radiator placement was a bit too far forward for my tastes tho. There wasn't a lot of 'crush' room up front with it laid out that way. I think its going to be a lot simpler to stand the radiator back up and put a bit more of a bumper in the front.

Oh, and if you convert it to a CMC car and are willing to sell the rear Penskes cheap, let me know (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

If it goes to CMC I most certainly won't close out the possibility of going back to AI so I'll hang onto the the AI stuff (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

SWEET! I think GRM takes a few extra days to make it to the left coast I guess. Hopefully mine shows up today.

Thanks for the info. When you go to put a stock core support back in the car, would you mind weighing it? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the fabrication time for the weight removal. I'd really appreciate it.

26 Pounds not including core support to lights bracket, core support to fender/bumper brackets. All together around 28-30 pounds.

I'll put a stock rad support in if it goes back to CMC. If its in AI I'll fab a Randy'esque setup. I recall from when we did all of this that we weighed everything we cut off and added up the weight of the 1" tubing we added and worked out that we saved 4lbs or something. Jason may still have the calcs or remember with a bit more clarity.

There have been three cars that had a lot of development stuff on them. This AI car, my '96 SM car and Casey Quinn's '98 ESP --> SM car.

BTW, the only reason we didn't invert the front shocks is that the spring purch wouldn't clear the front bar (hey Nick I think that still the 32mm bar off my '96).

Oh that's right, I remember that now. Stupid swaybar!

That would explain why I've got 3 x 32mm and 3 x 30mm bars. I couldn't figure out where that 3rd 32mm bar came from. I'll put it on the side next to the wheels.
