So what do us racer types listen to?
I gotta have something on in the garage, and I installed a XM Satellite radio in our truck.

My latest CD purchases. OutKast, and nine inch nails.

My next will probably be Seven Mary Three, and the best of Hootie.

BTW I LOVE 7mary3. AND in there newest CD the Economy Of Sound, it looks to me like they is autoxing(!), in some of the liner note pictures!!

Not this one!

That stuff was before my time.

Then again, so was Johnny Cash, and Waylon. And the 50's and 60's station on XM kicks ass.

Back to back to back songs, while on the way to BeaveRun at one point...50 cent, Johnny Cash, and Live. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I really will listen to anything.

Hey this is the 'general discussion' forum right.. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

My teen years were the Seattle Grunge years. I listen to heavy doses Alice in Chains, supplemented with Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots (actually an L.A. band), etc. etc.

MAN! Now THAT is ecclectic! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Old and new...

I listen to a little of everything....prefer rock/modern rock...get tired of most music fast, so listen to a lot of music that teens probably favor...

With a new baby, don't have much new music....last purchase....Nickelback..

When I'm driving on the street (don't have a radio in my Firebird anymore), I listen to all different types of music but I find what keeps me more upbeat in Detroit traffic is Top 40 or rap music. When I hear rap music I just can't help but laugh at a lot of it. "Back that thing up!" (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I don't have music in the garage yet, but have thought about it quite a few times.

hehe.. Pantera wasn't b4 your time man! i'm only 26 and i've been rocking Pantera since 'Cowboys From Hell'

that was back when cassette players were still cool!!...

if i had to choose one love.. it would be punk rock... Propaghandi and Bad Religion are a couple of my favorites..

there is just too much good music out there.. i'm a Bass player and i tend to enjoy any band that has an exciting rythm section...

don't like hip-hop or country

This thread reminded me of a guy in a Camaro last year at an auto-x race, who cranked up some county in the car probably as loud as it would go, and made his auto-x runs like that. I was out on course and laughed so hard, he had it blaring.

OK, I'm about to blow all of your minds!

Favorite band: Metallica (have every domestic album, 3 German only releases, 1 Japanese only release, a 14K gold CD, a Sweeden only release, and a few autographed photographs that I took of them and their concerts)

Favorite CD: Phantom of the Opera

What's on my MP3 player: Megadeth collection, Chef's "Chocolate Salty Balls" (South Park soundtrack), John Rutter's "Gloria"

Favorite single musical piece: Mozart's "Requiem"

Favorite music to work on the car by: The Doors

Favorite song to cruise by: Sammy Hagar's "Trans Am (Highway Wonderland)"

Favorite live performance: Cowboy Mouth (sort of local band, does tour the nation though)

Only song I listen to on Race Day: Metallica's "Fade to Black"

Current ring tone on cell phone: Waylon Jenning's "Dukes of Hazzard Theme"

Singer I'd most like to meet in person: Brittney Spears or Christina Aguelera (do you even have to ask "Why?")

As you can see, I like quite a range of music. But, I can't listen to rap anymore. That's about the only thing I can't abide by.

Been working on the car to Buddy Guy and Bruce Springstein lately, add in some Nickleback and a few others, shake well with ZZ Top and a splash of country, metal and jazz for good measure and you pretty much cover it all.

And, Cowboy Mouth rocks! I saw them live, they opened for the Barenaked Ladies, they are better live than anywhere else!

Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Little Steven, the Jersey Shore scene....

60's and 70's Motown and Philadelphia soul...(check out the movie Standing in the Shadows of Motown)

Country - Tim McGraw, Brooks&Dunn, Shania, Mary Chapin Carpenter (Local DC girl),

Pop - Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel,

Then the rest - Tom Waits, John Eddie, John Haitt, Queen, Tommy Keene (another DC native), The Clash, 80's punk, Goo Goo Dolls, Marshall Crenshaw, The Who, Warren Zevon, Big Country, Aerosmith,

Saw Cowboy Mouth two years ago on Halloween Night - Show ROCKED!!!

Usually listen to 92.5 The River in Boston Independent Radio, and the independent radio stations in DC (old WHFS and WROR). Hate the 10 song playlist!!!

Kind of a main stream old guy with an independant fringe. I have some of the obscure stuff by some of those artists, ex. the Birdy and Last Temptation of Christ soundtracks by Peter Gabriel...

Favorite song to autox to? Jerry was a racecar driver by Primus...

In the garage, it is usually some older stuff.

AC/DC, Van Halen, The Cars, Cream, Clapton, ect.

or

The old school punk rock (here I go, I'm going to date myself.). Dead Kennedy’s, Sex Pistols, Exploited, The Clash, ect.

While I am chilling in the pits.... its all about Podigy.

When I'm having a "just can't get the timing right" day in autocross, I'll play Buffet's "Volcano" during the run to get a little Carribean rhythm going.

"Red Barchetta" by Rush or "Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull work well when I want to step it up a notch (the win-it-or-spin-it run).

The line "no way to slow down" in Locomotive Breath always seems to hit at an appropriate spot on the course (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Lately I've been listening to a Mark Knopfler & Chet Atkins collaboration album, Neck and Neck. I'm not really into Chet Atkins, but there's some fine guitar work on this mix of two very different but talented players.

Blues is always good (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Devil music ... you guys listen to devil music .... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Blues is more my style ... Chapman, Guy, Clapton, ZZ Top, late 60s rock ... Hootie is OK ...
Older stuff like Montrose, Aerosmith ... and selected Van Halen, AC/DC, Black Sabbath-Ozzie

Raise your hand if you've ever seen Anson Funderburg and the Rockets perform live ...

I did see ZZ-Top in their Afterburner tour. The stage was a replica of Billy's Street Rad's dash. The speedo moved with the song's tempo and the gas guage moved according to the concert's length. Pretty sweet ....

I follow most of Mitch's suggestions as well.

And, as Axoid said....

Saliva

Don't forget Yello, possibly some of the best "late for work"/autocross music anywhere. Yello sounds best at 150+ mph. (they did "Oh Yea" from Ferris Buellers Day Off" and all the chase music from the old movie "Nunns on the Run" and many others). If you want something different, go find the album "Flag" by the band Yello. You'll thank me.
