Sorry I never got over to your pit stall and talk. I did see the car on track.

How was the weekend?

Ugh, I've had better. In the first two sessions, I got a combined 3 hot laps due to loose power steering pressure line and a serpentine belt that came completely apart. The third session was going great, the car was running well, coolant temp was 190, oil temp 235 (I was worried about cooling with the new motor since it ran quite hot with the stock motor), everything was working well, when the LR Hoosier suffered a tread separation:

The tire still has air in it, so it wasn't a puncture, but the belts came apart in a big way. I felt a vibration around corner 6 (clockwise), and I decided to see what it would do for one lap. By the start/finish line, it came completely apart. The damage to the car is minor in the grand scheme of tire damage, but those rear bumpers are pricey:

How were things in the CMC garage?

Ouch! On the bright side ... that's a great picture of the FRRAX logo. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

CMC teal car is in the arms of another lover. The new owners trailered her away Saturday evening and appears they couldn't be happier, even with a couple gremlins.

The PS pump was whining and puking fluid out of the reservoir. Big surprise, eh?
We had a revalved pump from a local company that went home with them.

There was a massive oil leak coming from front seal ... at least we think that's what it is. It could be PS fluid.

Finally, the other co-owner went out and we didn't think to explain to him that he needed to run the fans to keep it cool. So, it puked all the water out. I think they'll remember to use the fans next time.

CMC#8 broke in a new motor on Saturday and laid the spurs to her on Sunday. All indications are that I may have my butt handed to me this season.

It had one of the revalved pumps on it and the driver seemed to really like it. He had a stock pump with a huge cooler and now it has the revalved unit. He said the feedback was much better and there was now discernable differnece in steering effort. Finally a reasonably priced alternative to the Turn One pump.

Both cars were rocket ships, easily faster than my white car. Sux to build and sell a car faster than your own ...

Where can I get one of those pumps? I've popped two power steering pressure lines, and I know turning 7K rpms isn't helping things. I *think* LT1 f-bodies and y-bodies take a very similar pump, but I don't think it's the exact same.

Some .040 aluminum, pop rivets and a rattle can would fix that right up.

I've got a couple of raceworthy ZR1 rear bumper covers in my loft - do they have any value?

Anything ZR1 related seems to carry a premium, especially the different body panels from base models. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get $300 (maybe even $400 or $500) per bumper for a ZR1 rear bumper in good condition (except for paint). I'd stick them on CorvetteForum and see if you get any bites. For reference, a new fiberglass replacement is $599, and then you have to make it fit (including drilling every single mounting hole).

I've found a decent deal on a factory rear bumper pretty close to me, so I'm probably going to pick it up. I may try and patch my bumper back together and see where that gets me. The car needs paint badly, and I'd love to paint the entire thing flat black. But then I'd have to paint the car...
