I think don't Danica is a very good driver, and I think she is going to get her ass beat in in a Cup car. Drivers much, much better than her haven't had quick success (some never at all).

There have been much better open wheel drivers than her....including former F1 drivers than couldn't make it in Nascar. She will defintiely be an also ran.

It's a different kinda driving, this oval track stuff. She may or may not be good at it, we'll see! I don't get why folks say she is not that good of a driver.....

In 81 races, she only has 1 win, and that was a race in Japan where half of the field was off racing the last CART race. Her best finish in the IRL points is 5th. All of this, to me, suggests that while she is probably better than everyone on this site, she will NOT keep up in a higher caliber series (and I think everyone will agree Cup has a lot more money and talent than the IRL, even after the merger).

She is starting out in Nationwide, we'll see if she even makes it to a part time cup ride.

Why do I think that Danica may become a popular baby name in trailerparks across the land?

I remember her trying to drive at sebring a couple times. A LMP and a GT1 ferrari IIRC.
She was off times in 550 big time and only drove a hr or 2. In the lmp car, 2 days b4 race, they said she was not going to drive becuz she was to small and not safe for her if in a wreck. Most called bs becuz she was so far off the pace!

Tony, Jimmie, Jeff, and several other nascar guys can actually drive damn near anything well. They jump into a DP car and are almost as quick as the two normal DP drivers. She has financial support, good p.r. dept., and looks. Maybe some true professional level talent. maybe

Well, there's one more reason to add to my list of "Why I don't bother to watch NASCAR". She's a spoiled brat. Every time she opens her mouth she whines like a spoiled 12 year old. And I personally don't really think she's particularly cute (and I have stood 3 feet from her in person at the CART "town hall" meeting in Columbus, OH).

Julie, I'll take Sarah Fisher or Katherine Legge behind the wheel any day of the week. I'd love to see one of those two make it big, or even HUGE with a championship, etc. I was pulling for a Sarah Fisher/Lynn St. James (in either order) 1-2 finish at Indy that one year they ran together. Sadly, Lynn took Sarah out when she lost control of her car (which I figured would give all the morons "fodder" against these two ladies racing professionally, etc...luckily that didn't seem to materialize). I just wanted to see the ladies shut everyone up. And one day....one day...

Seriously? The only drivers that beat her in the Championship were either in Ganassi's cars or Penske's. You mean to tell me that Kanaan, Rahal, Andretti, Wilson, and Wheldon aren't worth a shit either?

She might suck in the Tin Tops but she might not. Just for reference here's the current standings from previous Open Wheel guys:
Montoya 4th, Ambrose 18th, AJ 26, Horish 29th, Robby Gordon 34, Speed 35, John Andretti 36, & Papis 42nd. Not exactly tearing it up and don't forget that Carpentier, Villenueve, Franchitti, and Tracy all tried it and failed. Even if she sucks at racing taxi cabs, at least she would have joined a pretty damn good group of drivers that also failed.

I think the reason why all those IRL drivers have done poorly in Cup is that the IRL in no way compares talent or money wise to Cup. Even Nationwide might be better. The IRL/CART split really killed open wheel racing, and even after the merger, the effects are still being felt. I'll go on the record and say if she ever makes it to cup, full time, she won't finish in the top 20 in points for at least her first two seasons.

Sydney, I think you quoted the wrong post. I don't think she's a stellar driver, but she's "decent". I do think she's a hot head with a serious attitude problem.

Yep, in my opinion she is. Seen her grow up physically.
She was one of those children that you see out and about and you want to slap her to shut her up, then slap the parents for giving in to their "little princess"

Sara Fisher, the Force daughters, and a couple of up and coming young women in Wisconsin would be better competitors and role models.
