Hi,
I am looking for two seat harnesses for autocrossing. I would prefer the simple 2" wide corbeau harnesses if someone has a set to sell, but I am open to what others may have. The ones I am thinking about getting are these, http://www.soloperformance.com/Corbeau-2-I...-Belt_p_92.html But again I am open to other possibilities.
Please send pics if possible or at least a link to the type you may have.

Thanks.

Crap. I was at a swap meet yesterday afternoon and a guy was selling a pair of black 3" G-Force 5pt latch'n link harnesses for $25. I remember they expired in January of '07 and they looked like they were hardly used. I was actually thinking about getting them just to resell hoping to make a buck but figured I already have a pair so I didn't bother.

I'm going to another swap meet on Saturday. Would you like me to look for a pair of harnesses for you? If so, give me your number (cell or home phone whichever is best to reach you) so I can call you if I find a pair so I can tell you about them before I actually purchase them.

Mike

Schroth, Sparco, Sabelt, and others make the same exact setup.

Not sure if any of them are that reasonably priced, but it's worth a glance.

Here is the info on the swap meets in case anyone else that's local would be interested in going.

On Saturday the 27th, there is a swap meet at the Washington County Fair Park (3000 Highway PV, West Bend, WI) put on by Diamond Racing Wheels and Behling Racing Equipment. Admissions is $5 and it is supposedly going to be mostly new and using racing components. The other swap meet I plan on attending is the following day, Sunday the 28th. This swap meet will be held at the same place but will be put on by the Wisconsin Chapter Model A Ford Club of America. Admission is $6 for this one but even though it's put on by a Model A club, you can find parts for just about anything and everything. My dad found some old Hemi valve covers and a family friend bought 455 motor there last year so it isn't all old parts. There is a link to Google maps on the website below. The two swap meets are about half way down the page.

I don't know how long it would be for you, but it's about 40 minutes from me.

Mike,
I also sent you a separate email.

Per Google maps, it's almost exactly 150 miles from my house, about 2hrs 45min with good traffic. And that's driving right through downtown Chicago, so it could be longer. I guess I'm not up to that far of a drive for the swap meet. You have my number so just call me if you see something.

Thanks again for the help.
Dave

Count me in for being interested in a cheap pair of harnesses, but in 3", for my off-road rig. Expired is great, red, blue, or black is fine.. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Preferably with the crotch belt.

Today was a big dud. The best part was talking to some people from the WSSCC (I think that's what it was) about possibly doing some HPDE events with them later this year. There was a lot of rear end parts and trans parts but the only harnesses there were new ones at $99 each. That's why I didn't bother calling. I probably only spent about a half hour there and 15-20 minutes of that was talking g to the WSSCC people.

When you guys say cheap, what do you consider the cutoff to be for cheap? Eskimo, if you want me to look for something for you I'll need you number. I won't buy anything without giving you a description and hearing the "ok" from you first. Since I cant really send you guys pictures ill try and be as detailed as possible on the phone. I don't want to be stuck with more stuff laying around.

The other thing is, do you not want me calling you until after a certain time? I'll probably be there at 8am tomorrow when they open. Since Eskimo is in PA, how would that work for you? I'm drawing a blank here and can't remember if you're ahead or behind us in time.

When I'm thinking of a good deal, I'm thinking of something for less than I can buy the New Corbeau's for which is about $80-90 a piece depending on which specific one. If I had to pay $75 for a used one, I would pass on it. I think to make it worth it, it will have to be a great deal. As far as time, You can call me as early as 7 or 8, no problem. I'm up early anyways.
And PA is an hour later than us, so our 8am is his 9am.
Thanks for letting me and giving me an update. I'm really glad now I didn't drive if it was a big bust.

Thanks again.
Dave

That's a good deal. You don't happen to have two do you? I'm really looking for a matched set if possible. RacingGeek is looking today at a swap meet and a local guy sent me an email he may have a pair of new corbeau's but he's gotta find em' in all his stuff first. Let me know if you have two of these.
Thanks.

Sorry, there was only 1 harness there today. It was expired in 1998 and looked pretty faded. He only wanted $5 but I didn't bother calling because I wouldn't have even run it in my car.

I did however find a couple old 1:25 model cars (old penzoil F1 car, 3rd gen Firebird GTA, an '89 Firebird TTA, and a '69 Stingray). I finally found the headlight I've been searching for to use on my motorcycle build but the guy wanted $150 for it so I passed. I also found a guy with a shop ~5 minutes from where I live that is selling a 350TPI (with all wiring and ECU), 700r4, posi disk rear (thinks it's a 10bolt), and misc suspension pieces from an '87 GTA. He says he pulled it out of the car back in '89 when it was crashed and everything only has ~16k miles on it. He's asking $800 so I'm thinking about it. I'll make a thread later tonight asking for opinions on it and what I should check for with an engine that has sat for so long but I don't want to get this thread too far off track. That and I need to sleep now since I work third shift. haha

My dad got a complete '71? 383 Mopar motor for $50 (plans on putting it in his '38 Dodge to replace the Buick 455), a nice pair of Geo Metro seats for free, an original rear bumper for the '38 Dodge for $50, and a rare old 4 in 1 model kit of a '6X Chevelle Station Wagon for only $5. He got the amazing deals of the day, and no, I didn't forget a 0 for the motor price.

The next swap meet I'll be going to is in March up in Fond du Lac, WI. Good luck getting the harnesses.

Good night everyone! lol

Hi,
Thanks for the help in looking for a harness. The local guy I mentioned above/earlier came through for me and called me today so it looks like I'm set now.
I appreciate the help in looking and the offers. RacingGeek, good luck on all your builds.

Thanks, Dave

You guys are lucky you can use a harness at all. I ran a custom harness bar between the rear shoulder mounts for 6 years but our group up hear decided to change the rules. SFI belts are now only legal for 2 years, FIA 5 years. And you cannot use a harness unless you have a rollbar or cage. WTF, THIS IS AUTOCROSS!

Wow, that seems a bit extreme for Autocross. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)
