I just picked up a 2002 SS with 17,000 kms (10,500 mi) and am going to autocross/track day it. I did an autocross 2 weekends ago and didn't do too well. The car still has the origional F1s which are 8 years old so they didn't help. I just ordered the Strano handling package with the 4/4 Konis springs and both bars.Seemed like a good deal and free shipping. I've also been given some used V710s that should still have some life in them to use on another set of stock wheels when I find some cheap. I used to autocross a2005 WRX wagon which was lightly modded with wider wheels/Yoko A032s a rear bar, and a slight boost increase. I love to drive the camaro even though it has poor response/handling right now and am looking forward to being faster with this car that with the WRX. I was always very close to my ultra competitve Brother in-law who seemed to edge my wrx out with his 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4. I hope to kick his but with this car in raw time as I beleive these mods bumo me into ESP. This is a great board and I look forward to improving my car and more importantly my driving skill with the help from everyone here. |

Sounds like a nice toy and you're well on your way already. You're the newest member in what can be a rather expensive group at times (playing with cars is never cheap), but it's lots of fun.

Send me your email address! We should talk about the track days you're planning for that SS! River's Edge has Solo 1 on Saturdays, next one is in two weeks, you should come out to Mission and check it out. I'll be racing WSC both days. Larry Bell |

Nice meeting you two at the track last w/e! Glad we got to talk, but sorry I didn't have more time. I didn't realize how nice the SS was, or I wouldn't have suggested caging it! Stay with Solo or AX with that one! Our Firehawk never gets near the track and its got more miles than your SS! There is a great/cheap TA available locally already set up for GT1, I'll send you a link.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I was origionally looking for a 99-02 Z28 with higher mileage that I could thrash and not feel bad about. When this gem popped up, I had to have it. This car is definitely too nice to gut and cage. It'll receive the Strano suspension goodies and do auto-x and some track days. I need to learn on something. Once I get more driver training, and a licence, I'll move into a real racecar and keep this for the street. This post has been edited by Zedzag: May 21 2010, 04:23 PM |
