Well, the wife changed "our" minds on my pruchasing an '02 Z06, right as I was going to pull the money out of the bank I might add. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
That said, I guess that I'm going to look into a F-body for autocross once again - in ESP this time, though.......since I have Mark Madarash down here. That leads me to a question, how much heavier is a TA Hawk (with t-tops) over a hardtop SS.....all things being equal, and obviously I would change the leather out to cloth. - skirts to include the nose and rear, rear wing, etc.......it seems like just a little too much in the Hawk. .....I like the Hawk looks better but think that the SS has too much weight savings to overcome - at the Divisional and National levels. Anyone have these weights or thoughts ? Thank you for your time Andrew This post has been edited by bowtieboy: Oct 29 2010, 03:31 AM |

Any reason you're looking for an SLP car over a garden variety TA/Z28? As long as you're going ESP, I don't see any advantage in getting a WS6/SS. (Except for the cool factor of course. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) )

JeffZ28 - the hoods are lighter....and yes, I like the looks (win-win)
MITCH - Hey Mitch, I would love to but the wife would leave me :-) .....funny thing, I still have all my parts from the TA & Z28 just in case something like this came up - but I still remebered that you had "dibs" on the T2R I'll PM you tonight ! To clarify on the post, I am referring to the 98-02 models. |

hey Andrew.. sorry to hear the bad news...
I don't know anything about the weight differences between those fourth gens, but I do have an ESP prepared IROC that you might be interested in. You know the car. It has: Mark M's old motor 1992 rear end w/ torsen t2r and 3.42 ring and pinion Koni SA Ground Control camber plates Hooker Super Comp Headers Holley Stealth Ram intake LG Aluminum Panhard Rod CCW 16x10.5 Wheels (only used for about six events) Canton Road Race Oil Pan and other odds and ends.. Let me know if you're interested |

Camaro will be lighter in some regions as it won't have the glass t-tops, t-top holders in trunk, flip up headlights and assembly up front.
A Trans Am bodied car will have all the sideskirts and hatch with high rise spoiler. The Formula hatch is lighter than the TA hatch, so I'd say find a WS6 Formula, best of both worlds. I hardly ever see a hardtop SS around here, let alone a hard top TA/WS6. |

I'll sell you my 97 LT4 Firehawk for $11K. Seems like we talked about this on here before and several people thought this would be the best ESP car available. There are a couple of parts that would have to be changed back to stock, but nothing major. Front upper control arms I think would be the primary thing (currently has Global West units). It's a great car, but I'm really getting in the mood to get another Vette or Porsche.

Hmmm, wasn't really looking for a 97 but with it being an lt4 and a Hawk does interest me a little. .......I'll look at your thread and give it some thought. Thanks for the head up Evan ! |
