I have 4 sets of airbags (4 driver/4 passenger) sitting in my garage. I want these gone but can't seem to find a place that buys them or a market for selling them. I realize all the requirements of using new for insurance repairs. There still has to be a market.
Anyone know of a source?
Right now, short of getting a case of beer and having a "what this!" moment, I'm at a loss.

I'm about to have 2 that I was going to try to sell. What about Ebay? Someone must want them. But is it worth it? Because shipping is going to be a PITA. I'm kinda leaning towards the "hold my beer" solution!

Did an ebay search. Got 7 pages of just 4th gen airbags. $50-$90 each.
I have a lead on a local place that is a retailer for used bags. I'll be hitting them up this week.
I tried doing some trades w/ local salvage yards. They will not buy it unless it comes w/ a title.

Same here, stacks of them. I've got a pyromaniac streak in me, so plan to figure out how to set them off, and see how much altitude I can get.

I sold my C4 airbags on CorvetteForum, in the area of $80-100 each.

One would think that with the way all of the crackhead lowlives were making them disappear from street cars in years past, there would be some kind of 'market' for them, but maybe that has dried up due to the fact that insurance companies (for safety/liability reasons as well as to stop/deter said thuggy-Gs) require factory fresh units to be installed??

Anyone want to do me a favor and measure the resistance across the 2 terminals on 4th gen F-body bags ? (Drivers and Passangers)...

I need to eliminate mine, BUT would like NO AIRBAG light (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Whoa! Stop right there. Checking resistance in a curcuit is done by inducing a small current through it. This could deploy the bag.

Just make sure you video tape it (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This is true testing resistance can supply enough current to the squib of & fire the air bag.
I have popped quite a few & always tried to pop on with my volt ohm meter, never had one do this though.
don't want to find out the hard way though which ones are sensitive.

If you do want to set them off, cut the connector of if it has one.
Either that or remove the "shorting bar" inside the connector.

Once disconnected, there is a spring loaded metal clip that connects the terminals together.
This helps keep from accidental deployment upon disassembly from static electricity or what ever.
Most air bags have these.

But I think their is too much liability now a days in collision repair to have un documented restraint parts installed on the car.
Ever since the scam of hacks repairing the air bag covers after being deployed & putting resistors inline to keep the light off they've been more picky.

Any thoughts on how to gain the proper resistor value , to not have a AIRBAG light with both bags unplugged ('02 Camaro Z28)

Try a 1Kohm 1/2watt resistor on each. The sense circuit shouldn't be fussy. If it is fussy, worst case it will not turn off the light. There will not be enough current thru a 1K to damage anything.

The air bag diagnostoc monitor from the module looks for the firing squib in the bag.
They vary in resistance.
They are usually anywhere from 1 ohm to 4 ohms.

The amperage used to test the circuit is extremely low, no possibility to hurt anything.
So some very low resistors inline will do the trick. Either that or remove the lamp from the cluster.

I found out the hard way that this does NOT work!!

There are too many 'fail-safe' backup lights which light up to take the place of the removed airbag LED (THANK YOU Ms. Claybrook (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/angry.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/gr_banghead.gif) ).

The only answer is a resistor, or taping over the light(s) (which I did, and NEVER got nailed at inspection).

I took out my air bag sensor and have no air bag light. I really thought there would have been one.

Which sensor? Do you mean the module under the center console(sdm)?

There is the SRS control module under the console, and 2 acceleration sensors - one also under the console, and another on the upper part of the radiator core support. All the SRS wiring has a yellow wrap and the connectors are all yellow.
