I've never been off the track at an open track event, but they always talk about putting tow hooks in. Does anybody have tow hooks on their f-bod? If so, where? If not, where do you guys get a tow from if you've been off before?

I have the front coming from the metal support behind the facia. It comes thru the plastic at the grey/blue line. On the rear I still have a trailer hitch that is attached to the frame rails.

On the 4th gen Camaro it would come out thru the black fascia, just off center.

They are nice....last race I OPENED UP A RX-7 LIKE A CAN OPENER, when he rammed me in a turn back there!

My sponsor just enlarged the stock tow hooks with some beefier metal. Works fine according to the tow truck guys who brought me in when my rear axle broke. I would like something in the nose, however not a can opener as we rub some in CMC! I saw one coming out a Firebird nose in the parking lamp location that was not that obtrusive.

the hooks are great

but some lifting straps under the hood, maybe bolted up to the subframe buy the swaybar mount or something is better when you brake the suspension on the other side of the tow hook (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

that way the tow can just pick up the front end all at once (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) instead of picking one corner so high so we get the bad wheel off the ground, then we run into the problem of the rear bumper scraping (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

we either strap the sway bar (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) witch is not good with a 2000 pound front end or j hook it (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) and there goes the nose, witch we do not want to do!

we NEVER want to do more damage than you've allready done (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

you may never need these strap's at all, i mean i don't read about major suspension failure on a fbody at all on the board. but for a few buck's......well you know

We all know Randy's got his tow hooks serrated and sharpened for maximum efficiency in cutting enemies' cars to bits

It slices, it dices, etc....
