Anyone know a good mount for a cell phone for window or dash? My GoPro doesn't seem to do a very good job and the cell phone would do a better job and I could directly up load it to photobucket or youtube via wifi (or upload to computer via card or bluetooth). I know most folks go with the gopro, but for in-car video I think this would work well...does anyone go this route and have a proven mount?

A friend of mine records his autocross runs with his iPhone that's mounted to something that looks like it mounts to the rear view mirror mount on his M3. I'll try to get a hold of him to see what he's using.

Your GoPro doesn't do a good job? Is it not a high def one? I love my GoPro.

Although now that I have an Iphone 5, I'll be taking video using Harry's Lap Timer. You can't find something at Ram Mount that wouldn't work?

My gopro used to do a good job. It may be something that I am doing wrong with it, but the sound on it was horribly distorted and the picture quality wasn't good. I will review my settings but I just think my phone would do a better job. I never could remember to turn the thing off between runs, so I always ended up with like 2 minutes of extra video. Then a couple times I must have tried to turn it off before stopping video so it changed modes and took pictures. So I ended up with like 30 pictures instead of video's. Especially if you can get some datalogging apps that combine with videoing on a phone...IMHO that would be the way to go. I checked out Ram Mount but didn't look really close...I was hoping to find a mount that was made for my phone vs having to build one from parts (I don't trust my ability to piece something together and it work).

There is a setting that I use that starts recording as soon as you power it on. Push the button on the front and it beeps like 3 times and the red light starts flashing. Turn it off and it beeps 5 times before powering down.

I agree thought, smart phones with telemetry, that's the way to go.

Turns out my friend is using a Ram Mount. He removes his rear view mirror "What's behind me doesn't matter!" and suctions the mount to the window just below the mirror button. He highly-recommends it.

I have a Droid Bionic phone and Motorola makes a suction cup mount specifically for that model. Works great for nav and voice commands in the car. I haven't tried taking video from the car with it yet, but it should work. I believe they make specific mounts for their other smart phones as well. I'm not sure what other brands have available.

You guys that are using phone telemetry...how easy is it to set up and use, and can it be used on the AutoX or just road courses.
