So what's everyones preferred steering wheel and size? The 320-350 range seems most popular. Favorite brand out of nrg, momo, sparco?

The dowels in my steering column won't stay in. So ill be getting a new column(same price as parts to fix). Plan on a new steering wheel while I'm at it.

I sell 1/2 dozen Momo Model 78 a year, available in 330mm or 350mm - used to be all 350mm but trending more to the 330mm size lately. Smaller is better for hand clearance if the cage Apillar is not tight to the chassis.

Most on here seem to favor Momo, since their suede models are a little less costly than the rest, and are of the same or maybe even better quality (IF there aren't all made in the same Italian factory anyway? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dunno.gif) ).

I have a 330 mm diameter Sparco R 383 on my 4th gen. I would have gotten a 350 mm wheel except that Sparco does not offer a thick rimmed, anatomically shaped, suede covered wheel in that Momo Monte Carlo/mod 78-like spoke pattern/configuration in that size.
The rim on the Momo mod 78 (which is the most popular one on here) is just WAY TOO THIN for my liking.
I may try the Personal Grinta suede when this one wears out/matts down, since I believe it can be had in 350 mm diameter in this style.

I was once told by ace Pro Rally driver and instructor Tim O'Neil that a less than 350 mm diameter wheel would throw your hands right off of the wheel on rough rally stage roads at speed, and those cars are mostly MUCH smaller and lighter than what we're pushing around, albeit on MUCH smoother roads/courses (hopefully!), and no torque steer to contend with either.

I would therefore guess that at least a 350 mm diameter wheel is preferred for our rides, despite the power steering.
I have NO IDEA how those in GT-1/Trans Am/SPO/etc. cars make do sans power steering, and with 320 mm and smaller diameter steering wheels. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/gr_confused.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/gr_eek2.gif)

I have a 330mm Sparco. Seems fine during the autoX but since I drive the car on the street quite a bit, I'm thinking that a 355mm wheel or at least 342mm might be more appropriate. The 330mm seems a little small for the street IMHO.

I'm going to try out a 350mm. I'm thinking about getting a cheap NRG wheel to see what size and perhaps style I like and buy a nice seude one later.

What about Hub adapter. A quick release or solid hub?

If this is going to be a street driven car, I would check your state/local laws, since some may fail you at inspection for a quick disconnect in the less 'libertarian' areas of this country. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
(You might already be 'pushing it' trying to get through without an airbag, although I've gone right through Joisee's quite Nazi-ish inspection stations without one for the last 12 years!)

Inspections aren't a problem. It will be street driven but that usually means to and from events.

I have a Momo MOD 78 330mm. It is a bit small for my liking. I'd be willing to trade with someone for a momo mod 78 350mm if they'd like.

I've had this Momo Runner on my daily driver 93 for many years now. 350 mm.
