Pre 77 they were just a stock bodied car modified but IROC found it too hard to get them consitantly equal the essence of the series, so they went over to Banjo Matthews tube frame aka NASCAR chassis, its the same chassis in the 3rd Gen. The drysump tank is in a better position than the 2nd Gen mine is in the cockpit and if I was ever to put the car on the track overhere would have to cover it over. Some facts that Ford boys may want to rib you about. Rear Axle, Ford 9", Steering Box Ford, front uprights Ford Lincon, entire chassis Banjo Matthews, all panels apart from the roof, rear section and rear quarters including the floor and bulkheads are fabricated!!! And if you saw the adds a copy I have somewhere and will try to post it you would think they were 100% the General's lol!. ford 9" (IMG:http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww342/91CamarosRS/rcr/IMAG1394_zps1xvokpiq.jpg) (IMG:http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww342/91CamarosRS/rcr/IMAG1395_zpso0awlv2k.jpg) (IMG:http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww342/91CamarosRS/rcr/IMAG1392_zpsbqaemmlc.jpg) rear end shop (IMG:http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww342/91CamarosRS/rcr/IMAG1369_zpshd2wkejp.jpg) |

Thanks for all the great pics in here.
It's crazy to see all the hardware / cars in a shop like that and know that it's somebody's job to build all that stuff (and that there's so much money in NASCAR to support all the people / hardware). Sounds like great fun to me. |
