The 99 is a parts car. The 97 is my street/track car. I just can't make up my mind! If I stick with the 97, I'll sell the 99 front end to buy a 97 SS hood. If I swap the 99 front end over, I'll put a grill in it that looks nice, make it a front breather and use the fog light holes for brake ducts. I need help. Give me your opinions. Has anyone ever actually tested which one is more aero/creates more front downforce?? Even if it is not street legal in most places, putting plexiglass covers over the LT1's 'buckets' would probably help the aero A LOT. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Is there an LSx in the '97??? This post has been edited by dailydriver: Mar 24 2015, 12:03 AM |

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Is there an LSx in the '97??? There will be! I've got a junkyard LT1 in there now that I'm going to run till it doesn't anymore. I'm going to start saving for an LS1 that I want to do heads and cam to. That's another reason why I bought the 99 SS, so I can borrow the cross member from it. Every other person I talk to has a different opinion on what front end they like better. The car is going to be black. If I went with the LS1 front end, I'd paint the inside of the headlights black like 6liter offers. I also need to get rid of the black plastic grill for something better. There's something about that LT1 nose though... |

I'm getting to that point of sellng the LS1 front end and buying a LT1 SS hood or just putting the LS1 front end on my car and being done with it. Cost is going to be about the same either way. I need more opinions. My wife is getting mad when I say I need to work in the garage and she finds me just staring at the two cars drinking beer.

I prefer the looks of the catfish, and believe it is shorter by a couple inches also.

I vote for the LT1. Never cared for the newer style... I wanted an LS1 car, but passed on a few opportunities to get a newer SS because of the front end. My LS1 purchases will be limited to Trans Ams. Everyone has their preferences I guess. I may be biased though. I vote for the 97 front end. I like it more, it's more pointier, maybe more aerodynamic if you cover up the headlight.

I like the LT1 front end. With an SS hood you've got it made... and an LS1 under the hood that is. ;-)
