Hey guys - I just happened to come across a link to this board from another one that mitchntx goes to.

mitch, you may recall me from ls1.com & ls1tech. I see some other familar names too.

I'm glad to see that other people are interested in turning corners too, as most of the other ls1/fbod boards are mainly concerned w/ drag racing. (which is cool, but shouldn't be 100% for a sports car in my opinion)

Are any of you in NJ? and if you are, where do you race? I'd like to get in on the fun!

-Alex

Hey Alex Welcome Aboard. I'll throw you a big NY welcome from myself. You are correct about the drag thing, but as you will find out here there are alot of people interested in turing left and right and not just onto the Return Road (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) John

Thanks very much John, appreciate it! I see in your profile you ran one lap. I was reading the story just the other day in c&d. Very cool- seems like every year there are a decent # of fbods & vettes representing there.

Another fuy from NJ here. I autocross pretty much with NASA and haven't been to any of the big tracks yet. There are a few clubs around this area that use Giant's Stadium for autocrosses, there is actually 1 next Sunday (25th) with NASA.

I actually do want to go to that NASA event on the 25th. I wonder if i can order a helmet in time....
Also I was kind of concerend autoxing my daily driver. Either way maybe I should show up anyway!

teutonic: really? that would be very cool. I might have to wait for the hardcore road course stuff until i can afford a "beater car" I drive quite a bit every day to work, and can't afford to not have a ride!

PS...how are the noise regulations at these events; I have a dynomouth exhuaust - not loud at all at idle, but I can imagine that it may get annoying at WOT, lol. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If you order a helmet now... then you MIGHT get it for the weekend. They also have a few loaner helmets there, having your own is much better though. It is best if you can preregister for the event, I think they're going to open it on Wednesday night sometime. The people who run the website and registration are in the middle of moving, running an event at Pocono, and running another event at the VW thing at Englishtown this weekend.

I ran a Trans Am that was also my daily driver at the time, if you car is well maintained then you 'should' be OK. Don't worry about the noise at Giant's Stadium, it is surrounded by 2 highways, a river, and wetlands. There is some kind of car that runs a snowmobile engine that could make you deaf if you stand next to it, so I doubt a daily driver would cause trouble.

lol, snowmobile engine, that is great!.... ok sounds good then; I saw on NASA where you could preregister - 80 ppl max for preregister I believe?

thanks for the advice about the daily driver too - I'll probably run an extra quart of oil like many do just to be safe. I figure since I'm a newbie, I'll take it really easy too. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
