hahaha I was working on my own ride yesterday. Put it up on my alignment stands and almost finished aligning it. I wanted to make some...things (don't know what to call them) to be able to measure toe without having to use strings, and I found out I have no 220 in the garage any more. Gotta call the a/c contractor that was out last month so they can fix that, &%$#@$!

Just for grins I took my new body hammer and tried whacking that quarter a couple of times. Damn, sheet metal moves pretty slowly. With the way my fuel cell area is sealed off, there's no way for me to reach the inside of the panel and the outside at the same time, so this is gonna be harder than I thought (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Oh well, it'll run, and that's what matters most.

....sand, sand, sand.....putty...sand, sand, sand....primer.....sand, sand, sand......putty....sand, sand, sand....

All in 95+ degree heat...and my wife deciding to run the dryer in the am..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ....it was SMOKIN...

oh well....at least all the primer/putty dried real fast....

think I lost 10 pounds of sweat today....

Maybe I ought to do this EVERY day... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

got the color on it this afternoon....was looking SWEET....much better than I had it before...when I noticed a small one inch run....this PISSED ME off....and about that time the gun "SPIT" right in the flat of the rear bumper where it WAS the smoothiest.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant.gif)

DAMN! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant2.gif)

got most of it smoothed out in the second "wet" coat, but DAMN...

STILL looks better than the old paint though.....

Damn...and here I thought the old paint looked really good! I think your standards are just too high. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

So I was feeling all inspired by this thread, and went out to wail on the quarter panel again this afternoon. I sort of got inside the trunk area, and my wife held a dolly on the outside (cool wife huh?) So together we got the quarter out pretty good. I can't reach all of it on the inside, so I'll have to use a puller, but it already looks tons better than it did.

I worked my way slowly, using a shrinking hammer, and the panel doesn't look very distorted (extra metal from having been stretched. Of course theres a lot of little bumps from where I didn't have the hammer square. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Randy, I don't have a window in my garage but have strongly considered putting one in there to make it easy to use a window mounted A/C unit to keep the area cool. Have you tried that?

In the winter I have plenty of heat in there thanks to propane and propane accessories, but I'm out of luck in the summer.

....yo go Al...

You wouldn't believe what I have asked my wife to do...in the garage that is.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) .....that is a cool wife you got there....

Sounds like you got it right.....stretching metal is the WORST thing you can do...work slowly...

If you don't get around to the "final" repairs till the offseason...give me a call, I work cheap, and for a few beers I can get ya going....

....you know, I never thought of that....I do have a window in there...problem is...I got so much crap in there, I usually need the door open to walk around the car....but if I got off my butt and cleaned it up a bit...I might swing that...hmmmm

Hey Randy do you know how to get paint to stick to aluminum mag. wheels? They're pretty smooth now. Is some technique? I wanna paint my spare set black.

I think you need to etch the aluminum with a chemical first....just ask the paint store guy...they know their stuff typically...
