I used simpe aluminum extrusion bought at a hardware store. It was in the shape of a "T". I cut a slot in the top of the dash/metal under the dash and pop riveted it there, and cut a slot in the "T" on the top allowing me to slide it OVER the windshield mounting frame, and pop rivited it there....ran two of these about 12 inches apart. put 1/4 of foam on top of the "T" to prevent scratching on front window.....
WORKS GREAT! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) |

Sorry, I can't do it: I no longer have the pics and couldn't even if I did. I'm just unable to post to a home website for publication on this site.

When I have more time I'll compose a web page with better pics, some recollections of the install, and thoughts on how it should be better. My good friend Joel (aka Pit Bitch), an engineer, designed and fabricated all this. He wants to redo the front, as he hates the side attachment brackets. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks guys! I'll have to look at these pictures tomorrow morning at work when I'm not on this slow dial-up? Is it really as dangerous as they say to run front lexan on a street car? They say it supports the pillars in an accident and is a federal offense?

The "T" bar on the front though I put in 2 bars and slotted the metal on the dash so the bottom of the "T" is partially located by the slot INTO the dash itself. And I used pop rivets to hold it in. I used Nutserts on the sides and top/bottom instead of nuts and bolts...takes more tools, but is a really clean installation. I also imitated the stock BLACK FRAME by painting the inside of the window about 3-4 inches around with Flat Black Radio Controlled Car/Model paint.....looks stock from a distance! I filled the gaps with black silicone also that REALLY finishes it off....LOOKS GREAT! That said....I would NEVER do this on a street car....doesn't look "finished" enough for my tastes for a street car....and the stuff IS NOT THAT DURABLE....racing with it I am very carefull NOT TO SCRATCH IT....although most scratches come right out with polish....I think street abuse would make you spend more time messing with the window than it was worth....JMHO (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) |

Hey guys,
Thanks for the pictures....keep them coming. When I said driving on the street.....it's only once in a while....it is summer time here, and I've maybe put 100 street miles on all summer..... Are you guys using 1/8" or 3/16"? Do you guys prefer Percy's or VFN? Can you get lexan side windows and still maintain the power window capabilities or put in a manual crank? Steve-D, Not in the mail yesterday....I'll check again today! Oh--ordered the HS Rockers yesterday! Later, Dennis |

Later, Dennis ...its been a while but I am pretty sure I got 1/8 NON coated from Alston racing for $250 with the install kit... I am not sure, but I don't think the side windows will work AT ALL with Lexan...I think they are fixed..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) ....with the wicked curve of the stock windows, I doubt a flat piece of Lexan will fit in working order...... |
