NASA will be racing at MidOhio this weekend. American Iron has over 20 cars preregistered with (4) F-bodies taking on the Mustangs. Lots of cars. Check out racenasa.com.

Mid-Ohio was a good time. Didn't get the car out on the track yet b/c of a few bugs that need to get worked out of it yet. Mainly just happy that everything passed in tech.

It was nice to meet you guys and thanks for the advise. Sidney I still want to steal your formula. lol! Very nice car, I've always had a soft spot for the 3g poncho's.

I could only make it for Sunday and I was half out of my head since I was so tired, so I don't have much to say. I do know that there were some "issues" regarding some cars on the Sunday race. Scuttlebut is that once the official results are out, f-bodies took 2 of the 3 top AI spots (none of them were me)... It was nice to have some fast f-body drivers/cars out there for a change (again, not me).

I was there running the TT. Damn there were a lot of cars on the track. Over 40 in the TT. My best time was a 1:42.3 when I finally got a semi-clear lap. It was really fun passing all those car though. :drive:

George, I dropped by to see you a couple of times but you weren't at your car when I came by...

Nice laps times. I was only running 1:49's.

F-Bodies showed their stuff on Sunday in AI. Eric Jensen was first in a 3rd gen Camaro. Former AS car that now has a mild 350. Bob Denton took second in a 3rd gen Firebird Formula and I got 6th in another 3rd gen Formula. Eric ran a 1:42.3, Bob ran a 1:42.0, and I did a 1:44.7. Several cars were kicked to AIX after qualifying due to failing the dyno or weight. The original 2nd place car was dq'd due to under the 9.5.

Mid-Ohio is a neat track but I need lots more track time to drop my times. For my first visit though I was happy with my result.

I agree. It is difficult to get a handle on and explore the limits of the different sections. I need more laps (w/o waiting constantly) to really get a rhythm going and start approaching the limits.

I was around pretty much all the time Keith. I was usually around the toter home or the transporter.

I only recognized your car. I really wasn't sure which tow rig was yours...

My "tow rig" was my car! I drove out there with my tires on the little trailer.

I caravaned with Jeremy Behrendt and his Toter home/ 3 car hauler that he went in together with Fred Fetzer. I was going to load in the trailer with Fred's two Cobra's but Jeremy was able to get his race car going so the trailer was full. Unfortunately the race car had a few bugs and worse over the weekend.

That's impressive, George! I hear you about the clear lap thing...and the faster you get the bigger a problem it becomes!

How do the laptimes of the top AI cars compare with the top AS cars on that track?

The Track record for the Pro course (w/o the Chicane) in AS is a 1:37.7 , established at last years run-offs. The results from this last NASA event (8/22/04) haven't been posted yet.

http://www.racenasa.com

I think the best time was around a 1:39 for AI, maybe a little quicker. There were some people DQ'ed for having too much power. I know Chris Griswald ran a 1:34. something in AIX.

The runoffs times are an excellent benchmark because they are set by the best drivers in the best cars.

The T1 record is a 1:33.6 set by Heinricey. That is just a remarkable time but he knows Mid-Ohio like the back of his hand. Not bad for a "stock" Z06.

Thanks, guys. I like to compare myself with others to see where I'm at and there's no NASA in this region. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) That data's helpful.
