nothing simple. I'd just drop the panel (above the knees) and disconnect the small connector.

You could just remove the airbag fuse. It shouldnt go off.

Why would you want to not have an airbag on track days vs driving home. If its because you sit to close to wheel I will give you that. But I would rather have the bag there because of the higher speeds and more likely hood of a higher speed impact. John

I think there is also a capaciter that has to be removed. The cap is what fires the bag. This is done so that it will function in the event of battery failure.

Lock the steering wheel straight. Remove airbag fuse. Drop both kick panels. Unplug yellow airbag wires. I used to do this every track day. Then I did it once all this year, and drove it around on the street disconnected also (few hundred miles).

Now I just removed the airbags completely (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) What a pain the ass removing the dash. While I was in I took the hvac box/blower, and all ducting out. Now I have to close the big 12" x 12" hole in the firewall!

I did it at the track in case of an 'Agricultural Research Trip' thru the grass and hit a big enough bump to cause it to go off. Without hitting anything else.

I unplugged the wires at the panel because of the ability for it to fire with the fuse pulled.

i would guess you could also disconnect it at the airbag module, if you unscrew the module from the steering wheel (i think its just 4 torx screws on the back of the wheel, at least on my thirdgen it was.) there is a plug there, if you disconnect that, it should really be disabled. That is the closes upstream plug to the airbag, so my simple mind would assume that would give you the best chance of not having the bag go off.

This is really the reason for my Q. If I go off track and bump the car hard in an OT experience, I don't want the air bomb going off into my chest. It certainly would be the first time for me to enter the green zone, but I'm thinking ahead!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Same if I slightly rear end, otherwise known as touch, someone b/o a misjudged braking exercise (my falut or their's for short braking). An air bomb on track is more of a liability than a plus IMHO.

I suppose a switch hooked to the unit w/in the wheel would be the way to go.
