I know that NASA run's CA for american sport's car racing, but alot of you run SCCA back east mid west ect...

so could an ITE car run in AI or AIX? or AS in CMC?

what are the major rule differance's for the two/three?

just wondering

ITE is typically an "unlimited" class.....however, this varies by region...check local office...

Here in San Francisco...we see CMC, AI and AIX cars in ITE from time to time.

CMC = lowest prep so SHOULD be able to run in all groups. i.e. a CMC prepped car should be able to run in all the groups, but an ITE preped car may, or may not be able to run CMC etc...

I am not familiar with all the NASA classes, but I know they are each a step up in preparation so once you go up a step in prep....you will not be able to run the lower class anymore....you could run the higher class if you so chose...

Typically, an AI car or AIX car could run ITE. ITE has no restriction regarding power or modifications. The Reverse (ITE car running in AI) may be against the major AI rule of 9.5 pounds to 1 HP ratio. Such an ITE car w/excessive HP for AI could run in AIX, an unlimited class.

I did this for a while w/my old race car (ITE and AI). It was a 30th Anniv LT4 SS race car. No problem in a NASA car meeting SCCA tech specs and vice versa. Just have to maintain two log books.

Competitiveness, is another story.

I run ITE because I am a die hard SCCA guy....been a member since BEFORE birth... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ....went to a few NASA races VERY early on and wasn't impressed...I have heard it is much different now...but I have all my buddies in SCCA at this point....most are friggin Spec Miata drivers....losers... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

The ITE Championship was won last year by a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro.....hmmmmm...not mine, but soon I hope to be at that speed.. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ....this year it was an RX7 if you can believe....very modified, but quick....

Fastest is generally a Speedvision BMW that is when he shows up....

And Bruce Griggs is quick when he shows up....

And to add to the confusion... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I plan in running mostly PS-0 (ITE type class) in PROAUTOSPORTS

We have NASA and SCCA but the AI/X and the ITE classes aren't that large 1-2 cars (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I'm going to obtain at least a NASA licence as well . I would like to run in CA NASA AIX at least once a year.

Proautosports is supposed to add a CA/NV region.

I have also seen a positive change in NASA over the years, I too have been an SCCA fan since birth. I teach for SCCA, they generously helped me develop the skills, they just did not have a class that compared to CMC. The main difference is your wallet, your wallet, and your wallet when comparing classes. Also important in any series is to know how the group is on track, i.e., do they run safe, and what level of BS are their powers that be willing to tolerate. With CMC that is very low, and the result is we have a very safe group out on track.

Other things to consider are how many events they have, some classes and sanctioning bodies have shorter seasons. CMC is still running out here, we have two more events!

Lastly, are there great disparities in cars or talent? The way CMC is structured everyone is broken in through inverted races (fast folks start last), and eventually we run 3 cars wide everywhere! Our rules keep things cheap and close.

I would recommend you go and hang out with the various groups on racedays. That will give you a good picture.

well randy you run in SFR,55-70 (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) miata's!when i first join SCCA it was with SFR,but now i just switched over to CAL CLUB since i live by buttonwillow.

you should come on down and check out BRP you'll get to use that motor of your's (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif) no miata will get in your way.we only have like 10 of them.

Greg murcurio(i think) chief of tech for SFR and 1/2 other's have been coming down with his FF,so if there is anything i can do to help get you down here just ask.it would be no problem at all (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/drink.gif)

NASA is real cool to,like CAL CLUB there's just less car's so you have more fun racing :drive:

Yeah....sometimes I walk the pits, and it seems as if 75% of the cars are Miata's (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

I am surrounded! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

CMC used to share races with Wabbits! My first race I got stuck behind them and the vets were teasing me because I had "wabbit trouble!" (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) That was the last time! Thank goodness we mostly race with AI now! The other group we usually run with is the BMW group, they are great drivers. We CMCers are pretty spoiled!

Randy, I feel sorry for you, especially the way those Miatas race, they make the NASCAR guys look polite! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

...basically Miatas are the reason I sold my 510....we HAD to race together.....and in my last year I got hit and spun in 6 out of 10 races....AND STILL ONLY LOST THE CHAMPIONSHIP BY 6 POINTS!.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant.gif)

Now I blow by 'em good and hard....and I move REEEEAAAAALLL close as I pass so they get the "hint"
