I had it get stuck inbetween gates the other day, really odd feeling, I had to smack it pretty hard to get it out, (just the reg stock shifter) it's the first time it's ever happened, been looking at getting a shifter, alot of the guys on the "other" boards reccomend a pro 5.0, most of you guys seem to prefer the Ripper...interesting

Most of the guys on the "other" boards don't do much downshifting, just two or three upshifts and they're done (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I've found something interesting upon removal of two different 5.0s on two different T56s. Both of these setups were hard to get into reverse to one degree or another. The underside of these shifters were both scratched deeply by the squared edges of the shift rail socket! It looked as if the interference was at its worst when moving the shifter handle over to the right, as in selecting fifth or reverse. Taking my dremel and cutting a 1/2" deep groove 1" wide by 3" long from the hole in the center of the shifter base forward ( generally following the location of the scratches) solved most of my difficulty with reverse!
Some of you guys fighting reverse with a 5.0 might take a few minutes to pull the shifter and look for these gouges on the bottom face. It makes a good excuse to grease the cup the shifter fits into! My $0.02 Tony |

You can't count me in for one. Hell I'll try just about anything once.
