I found this on the Billingsley Racing website. That may be a great answer to a common problem of where to mount your anti-sub belt (if it will clear the seat, I've not looked at the mounting location recently). It appears to mount to the front seat mounting bolts (I've E-mailed Amber Billingsley for more info about it). I'll post more as I get the info.

I just went and looked at the seat, and it should fit under the seat rail if its the right length.The height of it should be uder the handle of the seat.

That's the same design as that on Wolfecraft's site. They want $35 a piece!!! I wasn't going to pay that without trying something myself first. My old Recaro's had a thick piece of plate steel going between the two seat mount brackets that I drilled into. When I went to the Kirkey's I needed something new. I used a piece of 1" aluminum box tubing. I drilled out holes for the seat mount studs on the on the bottom. On the top I drilled out larger holes to fit a socket through to tighten/loosen. Did similar for the crotch belt bolt/nut. (Must tighten from bottom before attaching mounting bolts). If you want pictures, I can send you some when I get home tomorrow or Wednesday.

Oh, and total cost ~$7 at the Home Cheapo. They're light too!

It is a wolfe and it is $35, but I'd not seen it, we always mounted to or through the floor.

same here. 1" square tube cut @ a 45 degree angle on the ends so the socket can reach the bottom side of the tube. drill a hole that lines up w/ the studds.

I just used flat stock and mounted it under the seat post. The sub strap fits under it and was a 5 minute job.

Beside the sub strap is just to keep the belts in place...not too actually carry a load.

Those studs hold the seat both axially and vertically. I'd hope that's strong enough for the sub-belt too! If you were to bend or brake them, man will your nuts be hurting (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif)

So what's everyone's take on mounting the front straps to the the front seat attaching points. By looking at anyones rules I don't think they would be legal in that fashion with out having a backup plate. But would this be okay for a HPDE days.

Both the box version that Glenn98ZM6 and I both made, or the Wolfecraft one mount to the seat mounting studs coming out of the floor. Without welding something else to the floor, I'm not sure how you will get a different loading/mounting point than the seat mount studs.

After further review, I was on Simpson's site today looking at proper belt mounting. I may be buying the eye bolt style mounts for the lap belts to make the forces more inline. I'm also looking at possibly moving the sub-belt maybe to the seat itself. I want to see how thick the seat is, but I'm pretty sure it is pretty thick, and with a large washer, the loading should be ok. They say the sub-belt should be on or slightly behind the back line:

What do you guys think? I'm trying to put a bigger focus on safety this year. 5-points are nice, but proper installation is best!

I think it best to specify whether you're trying to employ this bar w/race seats (and the appropriate crotch belt hole) or a stock seat where the crotch belt has to go significantly forward and then back. As noted on the Simpson site, this isn't recommended. It should go directly from the buckle and down and slightly to the rear.

Doesn't look it's possible w/ a stock seat.

Does anyone make a seat with provisions for a 6 point harness? From the looks of it a 5 point seat would make the 6 point harness into a 5 point by holding the last 2 point to close together.

Steve--It is a Kirkey Deluxe Roadrace seat! Before that I had my Recaro's with a hole for the sub-belt.....guess you didn't take a close enough look at my car at SP!! I know it was 2 years ago! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

You can see the opening in the front of the seat. Currently I have the sub-belt bolted inline with the front seat mount studs.
