Well we took the Ghettomaro down to Panoz racing at the Texas Motor Speedway. A friend worked there and had access to some 4 corner scales, so we setup today to drive it down there and get her weighed up.
We zeroed the scales, set her down, and I was elated when I heard the numbers. Here are two pictures to show the breakdown, but for the cliff notes, 2874 without me, 3001 with me. I weigh 130 on the bathroom scale (don't laugh) so the scales seem to be dead on. The front/rear weigh distribution is the only killer. Can you say donut machine? (IMG:http://bervickbradstreetracing.com/cricket94/pics/94-empty-weight.jpg) (IMG:http://bervickbradstreetracing.com/cricket94/pics/94-full-weight.jpg) Anyway, here is the latest incarnation of my picture gallery. Be sure to take note of the Home Depot sewer coupling/stove vent pipe cold air intake... what a joke. -Kyle |

Did you leave the steering wheel in it? Or is it gone too..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) You are going to need those pedals and that wheel you know..... |

....I cut LOTS and LOTS off of my car this winter....I will be interested to see the results....
UNFORTUNATELY....I weigh more than a 5th grade boy though.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ...time to move some stuff to the back my friend....I have been thinking of lightening my back hatch/glass/etc, but I may need the weight over the rear wheels! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I've got my Optima battery in the back and my PCV air pump. I couldn't find anything else to move to the back really. I just couldn't believe I got it under 3000! |

Wow....that is light! I'm curious to where I'll be at after the winter? What all is left in there? I still have a dash, but not too much more, lights. I'm hoping a combo of the hawker, glass hood, hvac removal, hollow sway, etc. will level off the F/R distribution.
I was hoping for 3100 lbs w/o my 130 lbs, but maybe I'll be less, we'll see! With 6pt, oil cooler, and SFC's, I should be roughly 100 lbs. heavier....maybe 3,000 lbs. What's your hood made of, and is that lexan or glass? |

I see that your front to rear improved with you in the car.
So I guess you could always just pack on a few more pounds to help with the front to rear distribution... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

Yeah what is the weight of a gallon of gas, 6.5-7 pounds? I forget at the moment.
Also, the hood is the stock metal 94 hood, the glass is all the original OEM glass too. You can look through the gallery to get an idea of what is still in the car. The dash is just the visual front part, there is nothing behind it. No HVAC, no airbags, ducting, etc. Rear bumper support is still there, I took the front bumper support out though. Next, it's time to dip the body in acid. Either that or just start going at it with a holesaw! |

That is pretty light. I ripped out everything un-used also.Like with the front bumper everything got ripped out of there BUT then replace it with sheet metal ducting, aluminum stock for the front breather, bumper supports, bunper ducts, hosing,ps cooler . Dash nada, brackets nada, I've ripped all the glass out have lexan replacement, gutted the doors but then added nascar bars both sides (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) the cage alone I don't know.
I like to think I was sub 3K before the cage make sense yours is. Real curious about what mine is going to be when finished.I'll probabely trailor it to the dump (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) after it is done. Hmm you have a aluminum block in it now...wonder how much weight saving that is over the lt1. I was so close to going flat black interior walls and red cage... couldnt help but think it would make it even hotter inside. Went smoke grey, black cage and I don't want to paint it again anytime soon (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) believe it or not that was the hardest (for me) I have had to do on this car. I originally thought it would be a breeeze...I don't know I must suck at it cuz man was it agravating (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Looks great Kyle you've come alone way since backing into that ditch buddy KEEP IT UP! The little things add up....2 lbs + 2 lbs + 2 lbs + 2 lbs + 2 lbs adds upto 10 lbs. Then the 10 lbs + 10 lbs add upto 100 lbs......
That's why I've drilled out all the unnecessary spot welded brackets in the interior, and even removed the body side moulding yesterday. I think I will be in the 3,0XX range when all done after I get my lexan installed. |

....I was 3050 with the Lexan front and stripped as you see it in pics....all non used brackets are gone...but stock hood, rear glass, etc....I am hoping to be lower after all the cutting I did this winter...but SuperCricket's numbers are AWESOME with all the stock glass and hood... Wow that is light Kyle.
Moving the battery to the back may help with distribution, but will add weight overall. Why not just put a light battery up front? |
