QUOTE (Dave B @ Feb 5 2005, 12:02 PM) Unfortunately the drivers vary from professional level all the way down to rank beginner. It seems to me there are no run groups per se and almost every time there seems to be at least 1 car coming off on a flat bed. They use paid marshalls but no one pays any attention to the blue flags. Despite being sponsored and having an entry fee of $400 or more he usually claims to just break even. In comparison the Solo 1 wkend at Mosport was $395 for 2 days, paid marshalls instruction and supper included on Saturday and timed runs on Sunday as well as lapping. I don't think I need Howard and his friends in my life..lol From what I've seen TLC are well organised and focused on safety. The S1 weekend is another event I'd like to do. I've never taken a driving school so it would probably be a good idea. However, a lot can happen beforehand and my work schedule occasionally makes it difficult for me to commit to to things well in advance. I'll probably be at the OMSC April 22 lap day. I think everyone should bring studded tyres in case it snows again. |

I agree, the last thing I want to be doing is driving around with alot of unexperienced drivers in really fast expensive cars. Now if they were unexperienced drivers in cheap cars such as mine I would be ok (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

In my former life as a Mustang owner I was very frustrated at a Dexter day when a 348 Ferrari driven at a snails pace wouldn't wave me by despite lots of waving blue flags. I ended up pulling off and going to the chief marshall who's response was " Our experience is the more expensive the car, the smaller the rear view mirror"
OTOH I ended up getting a real ( although unintended) compliment from a 911 owner who I had passed earlier in a session who wanted to come and inspect my engine to determine what improvements I had made to it. In actual fact it was a completely stock 5.0 ! Maybe that is why the Porsche club of Canada won't let any other makes show up for their wkends. Dexter Days can mix cars that run from low 1:30s to well over 2 minutes. The speed differentials and unpredictable driver experience have kept me away for the last few years. |
