				Does anyone have any advice or tips/hints for removing it?  Specifically safety wise.  I'll probably go over the helm's manual but it sometimes wants me to use a tech scan tool for everything.   (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

				I disconnected the batt. and let the car sit for a while. I was told to do this by a mechanic at the dealer. Then it comes off no sweat. I used a 2 ohm resister to jump the large yellow wire, to turn off the abs light.

				Rob I removed a battery cable and let mine set an hour or so too. I also removed the fuses. When removing the torx bit on the backside of the bag, just stay behind it..... I doubt it's 'that' dangerous, but it doesn't hurt to be carefull, rather than having your head ripped off by an exploding bag. What wheel are you going to use? I went with a AutoZone Pilot wheel. The wheel was heavy but the adapter light. (same adapter as Grant). I never did get a Momo or Sparco wheel. I'm guessing weight wise, it was a wash. The Pilot wheel was heavy but adapter light, the Momo adapter was VERY heavy. |

				Well I just got the wheel in.  The grant wheel with adapter and hardware weighed in at 3.25 lbs.  My stock wheel with airbag was 8.25 lbs.  Bathroom scale, YMMV. I did what Lonnie and Mike did-pulled the fuse and disconnected the battery and let it sit. It took me a while to do it because I had to grind and regrind the black cosmetic cover that comes with the adapter to keep it from rubbing the column. I also drilled a hole into the adpater for the airbag wires to feed through-so it will be easier to convert it back to the stock airbag wheel if necessary. Still gotta go drive it, but that would involve musical cars in the driveway. 				I found a 13" Momo leather steering wheel on eBay for $40. I bought a quick disconnect from Bobby Archer ... it was $90. He also sells spacers to move the wheel closer to the driver ... |
