RedHardSupra,

I've sourced pretty much all but the spindles in different places, unless I still get a package deal somewhere.

One thing I wanted to ask you is if you would consider selling me just your *** LS1 spindles ***? My impression is that you have a spare set of LS1 spindles in boxes, which I think isn't really needed for your brake upgrade.

Let me know!

i'll sell you whatever is left after the new brakes go on. the brakes are on the spindles already, and i don't know if they're exchangable or not. seriously though, you're better off asking Kevin, he had them, he knows what's up, i just wanna abuse them (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

The kit Marcin has is built on a set of modified LT1 spindles (it's a kit from Baer, and they used modded LT1 spindles), so the only LS1 spindles Marcin has are currently on his car (meaning he can't just pull the spindles off of the new kit and bolt it to his old kit, plus those kits are shimmed, I'd leave it "whole").

So, he'll have to get the old ones off to get you a set of LS1 spindles.

so basically once the new brakes/spindles kit goes on, i just let him have the stock ls1 spindles coming off my car, right? are you sure that the modified lt1 spindles are gonna be solid on my ls1? i know they're almost identical as far as suspension goes, but i'd rather ask than be sorry.

The LT1 spindles look pretty meaty to me--in fact, they look heavy, because of the way the brake pads are retained with the single piston calipers.

Heck, I am starting to think *I am* going to use modified LT1 spindles! I'm putting this upgrade together from different sources, and I foresee a trip to my little workshop downstairs for some surgery. The way things look right now, I might actually pick up some 13" C5 rotors and machine them down to fit under a 16" wheel with the LS1 calipers, along with some fabricated brackets to mount them. (Wilwood sells a 12.5" rotors, but it's more expensive). I think a 12.75" rotor may allow the calipers to clear, but that's just from a quick trip to the garage with a tape measure.

After the pains I went through over the last 9 months with my custom twin turbo setup, which I put together from the ground up, this is starting to sound a lot faster than this hunting around for LS1 spindles!

Unless someone sells me **LS1 spindles soon** (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

They are solid. Racerns here on the board has those same Alcons and has 20+ track days on his so far.

Don't buy anything from those guys (Tennesse Auto)!

They do a  horrible job of packing!  All they care about is getting your money.  I bought some parts from them and half  of the contents were damage.  There was absolutely no packing material.  And when I called them to complain Scott, one of the mgr. just gave me the jerk job.

Avoid those guys.

Kevin

How long ago did this happen to you?

Scott fired everyone working for him but one guy, because of that kind of thing and some other stuff that was happening.

Hey--end of the saga!

Drum roll, please ... I just ordered a set of LS1 calipers and C5 13" rotors from my local parts house, and I will be machining my own mounting brackets to mount them.

I spent hours trying to find a complete LS1 brake upgrade kit, available now and in good, known condition. I did find some good stuff in the end, but I had already decided to go straight to C5 13" rotors and make up my own adapters using my stock modified LT1 spindles.

I know the LS1 calipers are not as strong as the C5 calipers, but I have a nice set of Hawk pads for them, and it sorta will look stock.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in or offered something.

Marcin I'd be interested in your stock brakes as an upgrade to my girly lt1 brakes. Being in Canada as well I'm having a difficult time finding a reasonably priced used ls1 set up .
When (if) your ready to sell them shoot me an e-mail at nmark@shaw.ca

Thanks.
