I decided to play around with GT4 the other night and let B-spec (computer) run laps at these tracks in order to try and have some consistency (although they aren't super consistent either). I ran the car stock, and then with some mods in different stages (trying to make it like my modded car). I tried to take the 1st two lap times, but sometimes I missed the 1st one. Here goes (all items are added to what car had previously):

Laguna Seca (B-Spec pace - Fast)

Stock 2000 Camaro SS - 1:46.151, 1:47.397
404HP, Brakes, Clutch, Al Flywheel - 1:40.607, 1:40.575
Suspension - 1:40.528, 1:40.142
Soft Tires (not super soft) - 1:33.364, 1:34.073
Weight removal, cage stiffness - 1:30.949

Sears Point (B-Spec pace - Fast)

Stock 2000 Camaro SS - 1:53.176
404HP, Brakes, Clutch, Al Flywheel - 1:50.367, 1:51.719
Suspension - 1:50.181, 1:49.367
Soft Tires (not super soft) - 1:40.654, 1:39.825
Weight removal, cage stiffness - 1:37.024

Not scientific by any means, but interesting to see since GT4 supposedly has rather accurate lap times and physics models. Tires made the biggest difference. I'm curious to see their affect on the stock car without the mods. Weight removal was 585 lbs. which is probably about 100-150 lbs. more than most of us can realistically take out, but you get the point. I also didn't do the quick conversion from lb/in to kg/mm so I'm not sure how accurate the spring rates were.

Pretty much in both cases, about 16 seconds were shaved off lap times from a stock car to a modded car like mine. Some of you guys have sick HP which would be even faster! :drive:

Boy, what a car geek can do when he has too much time on his hands (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ....meanwhile I have lexan to install (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) . It's snowing here again. My 1st track date is one month from today at LRP which now has about 6" of snow. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

...ain't gonna get 1:46's with a STOCK SS Camaro....that is what I did last year with my car....

Although the guy with basically my car and more experience was doing 1:43's I believe...

I guess the acuracy is off. This was on the sports car course, not the stock car one. Not sure how much of a difference that makes. Wonder how the Laguna Seca times compare with real life.

I was talking about Laguna... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ...

As for Sears....I was just at your Stock SS times again...on the REGULAR course....NOT NASCRAP....again...the car is not dialed in, and the other Camaro was at 1:51's I believe...

Better yet whats the best times you can run in A-spec at sears point and Laguna.

I really don't like Laguna but I like Sears Point alot.

I'll run my Z/28 until I just can't keep up with the SS.

I'll play it some tonight and post back.

BTW for running a quick time without worrying about tire wear go to the world circuits, and then enter practice. You can then run super soft tires for a bazillion laps if you want.

No holds barred. Driving aids, super soft tires, whatever it takes.

Sears is more fun to drive in person as well.....

...not that Laguna isn't one of the BEST DAMN TRACKS in the world... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ...I love Laguna as well....just the total package there, that and the Corkscrew OWNS YOU when you drive it.....SO MUCH DAMN FUN!

my best time in the ss: 1'28.437

I ran a few laps in a regular Z28 at sears point and came up with a 1.26.5. I know I can go faster, I just have to work on making the car easier to drive. It's really un-stable on brakes and corner entry. Maybe the brake bias adjustment?

Anyone else.

Note you can buy a regular Z28 in the used car lot. Although it's not always there.

I HOPE that is on the NASCAR course.....if not....your STOCK Z28 is close to ALMS Prototype times...

the best competition i found for any track (but mostly Laguna for GT3) was what i call 'the 100k competition.' the rules are simple: for 100k, buy and build, set up, and drive a car to the best time possible.
in gt4 it's a bit more complicated, cause there's the cheater tuner VW R32 that goes like stink for 32k or something like that... so other than the obvious cheater cars, everything is fair game. the best car so far is not the obvious choice (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) let's just say in gt3 it is possible to go under 1:20 for 100k

we haven't gone competitive in gt4 on these rules yet. we've been gearing up for '100k of the Ring' but since you can't reload the game, you actually need a lot of money for testing, which ended up in 3 weeks of endurance racing to make bank. so far the best i've done is 6:58 on the Ring for 100k total.

<best crack dealer imitation> anyone interested in joining the 100k competition? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Nither car was stock.

FWIW the best I could manage in the Audi prototype in the Super License area, was a 1.15.7

The Audi prototype is close....I think they do 1:12's when I go see them every year....but the stock/modified Camaro numbers are a JOKE!
