Guys and Gals,
I'm working on putting the Roll Cage in my 87 IROC and I found some option codes that I would like to add to my car. I've already added the Air Conditioning Delete (allowed under ESP rules anyway), but now I found the Radio delete option. 1) Does anybody know if that includes the Antenna? I think there was a small black plastic stub put in the hole when then removed it but I must be sure. I want to make sure I can take off the antenna, OR did Chevy put antennas on ALL cars regardless of if they had a radio or not. PS. My IROC is on a diet, she's losing the stock seats and i'm digging in the dash to get the AC Core out and put in a Heater core to lose a few more pounds.. 2) Does anybody know what plastic pieces can be cut while installing the roll cage? I checked with the GCR and I would like to cut 2 small holes in the dash to put the roll cage thru, it would look much better that way, but I want to be legal. (I have to do this anyway, because of the roll cage, so I'm just trying to do some goodness while in the dash). Can anybody help me? |

OK. SO I haven't heard from anybody and several of you have looked at this, so I'll assume that I can't remove the antenna and just button back up the dash as I get ready to go welding.
If anybody changes their mind about this, please advise me and I'll pull that darn antenna off. (it's is very annoying when throwing a car cover over the racecar). brian |

My self, since I know your building an ESP car, am wondering why you are bothering with the cage.
IF I did put in one, it would be a 6 point MAX. And in doing that you can ignore the bars up near the dash board. I 'think' you can remove the antenna. I don't know of any rule allowance but have seen many cars that have taken theirs off. FWIW the Purple car Sam drove had a radio delete option. So if you can wait to get the word from him, he may be able to tell you if the antenna was something removed W/that option. I would assume the antenna goes along with the radio, but you know what they say when you assume something. |

The best place to get accurate answers on 3rd gens is here:
http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/ I think that the antenna is a good question - do you have any pics of Strano's third gen? That could tell you alot. |
